Can Anaheim DUCK the 2003 NHL Stanley Cup Curse?

At least for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, they've already done this before.

Coming to the 2007 NHL Stanley Cup Finals, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks find themselves in a somewhat similar situation when they reached the final playoff series of the NHL season back in 2003.

Veterans Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Samuel Pahlsson and Rob Niedermayer all know what it's like to be in the Stanley Cup Finals and yep, they still remember what it's like to be on the losing end of a championship series like this.

You just know they'll still have that bitter taste of defeat the New Jersey Devils gave them back in the Stanley Cup finals of 2003 when they face the Ottawa Senators to start the seven-game championship series on Monday. These Ducks are hoping they won't have the same disappointment.

''That's the place every hockey player wants to be, the Stanley Cup Finals,'' Anaheim Ducks center Samuel Pahlsson said. ''I remember last time. We took it all the way to Game 7 and lost (to New Jersey). Standing on the wrong side of the ice, watching the other team celebrate, I definitely don't want to do that again. I want to win it this time.''

Mighty Ducks goalkeeper Jean-Sebastien Giguere, despite winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs last year, wants a different trophy this time. He became only the fifth player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy from a losing team in the postseason and he wants nothing less than a Stanley Cup win this year.

''These occasions don't come every year,'' Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere said.

''You have to try to take advantage of it. I'm just looking forward to having fun, enjoying the moment. Hopefully, as a team, we'll be able to achieve our goal.''

Can the Anaheim Mighty Ducks beat the Ottawa Senators in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup series on Monday to take an early 1-0 lead? Who will win the 2007 NHL Stanley Cup? Bodog has the odds.

Who'll save MLB baseball from Barry Bonds and steroids?

seth-edward-oneal.jpgLately, it seems when people talk about baseball, I begin to hear stuff about Barry Bonds and this whole steroids thing.

Enough already. It's about time we let that go and move on. Of course, doing that is harder than you think. With a guy like Barry Bonds having a date with history while using illegal substances like steroids to get there, turning away from MLB's major issue is next to an impossibility.

But then again, if we have two or three guys who can play good enough for people to talk about them OTHER than Barry Bonds, then maybe people will start talking about the sport and not drug junkies in the San Francisco Giants locker rooms.

One of which is baseball's fastest rising superstar, the Japanese pitcher of the Boston Red Sox, Daisuke Matsuzaka., Daisuke, or ''Dice-K'' as he is called in the States, has brought international attention back to baseball since Hideo Nomo began all that hitting streaks in the past.

With guys like Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners and our little Japanese dude, Dice-K here, baseball is in good shape as far as Asia is concerned.

As far as local talents go, the States do have guys like Albert Pujols. After leading the St. Louis Cardinals to the MLB World Series last time to become champions of the world, he now has this ''swagger'' that will probably stick with him no matter what he does from this point forward.

Even if the dude never gets out of this somewhat pathetic spell the poor guy has been having lately or throw a cup of beer at Ron Artest at some point of his career, Albert Pujols will always have that stance, that measured, buoy-bobbing-in-the-bay pose and everybody will love him for it.

As bad as the New York Yankees have been lately, their leader, Derek Jeter, could probably be one of MLB's saviors in the near future too. This guy is untouchable, well, from scandal and embarrassment anyway. For some reason, the media just can't seem to get this guy and it looks like Mr. Jeter won't let them.

Jeter still is the unflappable, mysterious and untouched individual we know and guess what, he still plays for a team who receives more scrutiny than any other professional sports team in North America, the New York Yankees.

Unbelievable.

Who will win the 2007 MLB World Series Championship? Bodog has the odds.

Pistons to beat Cavaliers 79-76 again in Game 3

What's up with the numbers, 79 and 76?

For two games straight, the Detroit Pistons beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 79-76, in an eerily similar fashion. Back in Game 1, LeBron James passed up a shot that would've tied the game. Instead, Donyell Marshall missed a desperation three-pointer much to the delight of Pistons fans, including yours truly. Pistons won 79-76.

In Game 2, LeBron James again had the ball. Only this time, he took the shot. He missed. The Cavaliers AGAIN lost to the Pistons, 79-76. Jeezus... What the fuck is happening here?

Well, I'm not complaining. It's STILL a Pistons win. However, I can't help but worry about how the Pistons won the first two games of this NBA Eastern Conference Finals series. As big as a Pistons fan as I am, I have to admit that Detroit didn't won those two games in convincing fashion.

In Game 1, the Cleveland Cavaliers led for most of the game. LeBron James was only held down to 10 points, his lowest output in the playoffs career-wise. But surprisingly, the other guys for Cleveland stepped up.

Man, did you saw Zydrunas Ilgauskas then? It's like watching a goddamn seven-foot Steve Nash.

In Game 2, again, the Cleveland Cavaliers led for most of it. Heck, they were way ahead, I think by 14 points, at halftime. The Pistons, for the second straight game, managed to come up with a dramatic comeback in the second half with me huffing and puffing every single goddamn shot.

Jeez... If it wasn't for my boy, Rasheed Wallace, I'll be looking at a 1-1 tied series. These guys are REALLY about to give me a freakin' heart attack...

STILL, I know my boys will win Game 3 when this seven-game series shifts to Cleveland, Ohio at the Quicken Loans Arena. The score? Easy.

79-76.

Can the Detroit Pistons win Game 3 at the Quicken Loans Arena and take a commanding 3-0 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers? Who will win the 2007 NBA Championship? Here are some odds from Bodog:

Cleveland Cavaliers 12/1

Forget this shithole, Paris is where it's at with 2007 French Open, Tour de France and Euro 2008

Yep, Paris, France will be the mecca of sports once we hit the halfway point of the calendar year.

As ya'll know by now, the 2007 French Open at Roland Garros begins May 27 up to June 10. The clay court tournament will feature some of the biggest names in tennis like Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Amelie Mauresmo and Justine Henin.

Of course, Roger Federer will be there and I'm hoping the hot and sexy Maria Sharapova will too.

The annual tournament at Roland Garros is a whole new game with clay court king Rafael Nadal FINALLY beaten on... welll... CLAY... by none other than Roger Federer. Nadal was beaten by Federer, ending the clay king's incredible 18-match winning streak on the surface.

But it's not only the 2007 French Open making a big bang in France. On July 29, the Tour de France careens to a finish on the cobblestones of one of the world's most famous streets, the Avenue des Champs-Elysees.

Yeah yeah, the overall winner is already decided then but the 20th and final stage of the three-week race still is hotly contested.

On June 2, the Euro 2008 soccer tournament qualifier will take place as France takes on Ukraine at the national stadium. Seats start at 20 Euros and can be purchased online.

If soccer is not your thing then you still have the 2007 Rugby World Cup from September 7 to October 20. The Rugby World Cup will be staged in ten venues around France including two in the capital, at the Stade de France and the Parc des Princes. Two cities in the United Kingdom, Cardiff and Edinburgh, also will host matches.

In case you don't get it yet, go visit Paris now.

Can Alonso get back on track at 2007 Monaco GP?

HELL NO, because it's all about Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren – Mercedes camp lately.

In case you have no idea who the heck Lewis Hamilton is, he was suppose to be the young rookie driver to follow the lead of two-time defending F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso. After four rounds of the 2007 F1 Season, this was just not the case.

Out of nowhere, Lewis Hamilton is making headlines all throughout the F1 racing circuit. Heck, this guy is driving like he has been here for five, six years and now, McLaren find themselves in a dream season with two drivers, each capable of bringing home both the drivers' and constructors' championship titles.

Of course, Fernando Alonso is not happy about it. Not one bit. Hell, after moving from Renault to McLaren to resume what is now his two-year reign as champion of F1, he's losing his grip on his title. And to make things worse, he's losing it to a goddamn teammate.

The pressure is on Alonso now to remind his McLaren teammate just who is the team's No.1 driver. The only problem is, many people believe Alonso can't compete with the young Lewis Hamilton.

Renault's team manager Steve Nielsen has joined the chorus in casting doubt over Fernando Alonso's ability to compete with Lewis Hamilton. Alonso and Nielsen worked together at the Anglo-French team and won both the Drivers' and Constructors' World Championships.

As a result Nielsen has something of an inside track on the World Champion's psyche and he declared that pressure from teammates had affected Alonso during his four seasons with Renault.

''In his career, he has always been comfortably faster than teammates, and now he's got a guy who's his equal, if not maybe a little bit quicker in the races as we've seen so far,'' Nielsen said.

''And I think he'll be questioning himself, deep down inside, as to whether he is really quicker than his teammate, and I think that will give him a lot of self-doubt.''

Can Fernando Alonso win the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix on May 27? Who will win the F1 drivers championship? Bodog has the odds.

Can Jazz find energy and solution to beat Spurs once series shifts to EnergySolutions Arena Game 3?

For the Utah Jazz, EnergySolutions Arena has lived up to its namesake.

It is at the EnergySolutions Arena where the Utah Jazz bounced back from a 0-2 deficit against a team from Texas, the Houston Rockets, during the opening rounds of the 2007 NBA Playoffs.

A month later, the Jazz again find themselves in a similar situation, down 0-2 to yet another team from Texas, the San Antonio Spurs. And yep, they're counting on the EnergySolutions Arena to give them the ENERGY and SOLUTION to beat the powerhouse team from San Antonio and get back to this seven-game NBA Western Conference Finals series.

The Utah Jazz are right where they were a month ago, making everybody wonder just how much longer they could last in the 2007 NBA Playoffs.

As of April 24, they had lost two games to the Houston Rockets by a grand total of 17 points, appearing overwhelmed at times and failing to perform in critical stretches of the game. However, things changed when that series moved to EnergySolutions Arena, and the Jazz hasn't looked back since.

After losing by eight and nine points to San Antonio in the NBA Western Conference finals, they just need to rely on the same energy and solutions they used against the Houston Rockets.

The problem? They're no longer playing the Houston Rockets.

''It is a lot worse to be down 2-0 to the Spurs than it is to the Rockets, because they are a better team; defensively, offensively,'' Utah Jazz point guard Deron Williams said.

Jeff Van Gundy is cursing under his breath somewhere.

Can the Utah Jazz win Game 3 and cut the lead of the San Antonio Spurs in this seven-game Western Conference Finals series to 2-1? Who will win the 2007 NBA Championship? Here are some odds from Bodog:

MLS Syndrome bites Chelsea Star Andriy Shevchenko

Yep, Chelsea superstar Andriy Shevchenko wants to play in Major League Soccer (MLS) too.

Shevchenko claims soccer, yep, he called it soccer, is growing in the United States and the Chelsea star wants to be a part of it before he calls it a career. Although he won't be making the change anytime soon, he wants to play in the States at some point of his career.

''Soccer is growing in the U.S. and I'd like to be a part of that. I played there last summer against the MLS All-Stars and I saw myself that it's definitely improving,'' Andriy Shevchenko said.

Andriy Shevchenko joined the English Premier League, signing a £30 million last summer with Chelsea FC after an awesome season with AC Milan in the Italian Serie A. However, since moving for the Premiership in England, Chelsea fans are yet to see the Shevchenko who became such a household name in Italy.

He failed to reproduce the kind of form that Chelsea paid AC Milan for. To make things worse, Shevchenko was sidelined with a groin injury that forced him to miss most of the English football season, including his team's 2007 FA Cup win over rivals Manchester United.

Shevchenko claims that playing out of position for the Blues did not help his cause during a difficult opening season at Stamford Bridge but he insists he was happy to make the sacrifice for the benefit of the team.

''It wasn't a great season but it hasn't been the worst,'' Shevchenko said. ''People always expect a lot from me. I wasn't well in the first four months, partly because of fatigue from the World Cup and partly because of the injury I was carrying. But then I had a good stretch in the middle of the season.''

''In the end, despite everything, I ended up with 14 goals and 11 or 12 assists, and that's not a bad season.''

As long as you say so Shevy...

Twists and Turns in the 91st Indianapolis 500 Sunday

seth-edward-oneal.jpgUnfortunately, there won't be any TWISTS nor TURNS in the 91st Indianapolis 500. They'll just accelerate and go LEFT.

But of course, behind every big race, there's always a couple of stories to look forward to as raceday comes closer and closer and as dull as oval track races like this will be, the 91st Indianapolis 500 definitely has its fair share of behind-the-scenes drama any casual racing fan should take notice.

Of course, stating the obvious, Sam Hornish Jr. will come into the race as one of the heavy favorites to win the event's 91st annual offering. He is after all, the defending Indianapolis 500 champion.

Right behind him is Dan Wheldon. Surprisingly, the defending Indy 500 champ won't be the overwhelming favorite, Dan Wheldon is. During the last three years of (dull) oval track racing, Wheldon has nosed ahead of Hornish as the IndyCar Series' most formidable oval ace.

Wheldon dominated the 2005 season and came within a point of making it two straight titles, losing out to Hornish on a tiebreaker for the 2006 title.

Wheldon, or ''Daring Dan'' as he is called these days, wants to dominate the 2007 season. A win in the Indianapolis 500 will definitely put him on track for that. The only problem here is radio failure just might fuck up their strategies again, similar to what happened to the poor guy at Motegi.

The new qualifying format introduced by IMS for 2005 was used for the first time heading for the Indianapolis 500. The system allows 11 drivers into the field on EACH of the three qualifying days.

Oh yeah, the Indianapolis 500 will see three women drivers too. Yeah sure, femme fatals Danica Patrick, Sarah Fisher and Milka Duno won't be dominating this Sunday's big race in Indianapolis but for sure, they will STILL dominate the headlines.

Who will win the Indianapolis 500? Bodog has the odds:

Dan Wheldon 9/4

Scott Dixon 5/2

Tony Kanaan 4/1

Sam Hornish Jr. 5/1

David Beckham can leave Real Madrid as a champion

Of course, we are still a few games away from that.

Yep, the pop icon we simply know as David Beckham can leave Real Madrid a champion. You see, David Beckham has been a godforsaken loser for four years now, NEVER winning any trophy whatsoever in his four seasons with Madrid. Now that Real Madrid is on top of the 2007 Spanish La Liga, that long drought could be over soon.

Of course, with David Beckham on the verge of moving to the United States and play for the Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer (MLS), you just know that Becks is just salivating for the hero's exit with a chance to leave Spain with something more than a bad taste in his mouth.

The 29-time league champions, Real Madrid, took over sole possession of first place for the first time in the 2007 Spanish La Liga, and they did it by scoring three second-half goals in a 4-3 win over Espanyol. The win was the team's seventh in its last eight games.

If David Beckham can help Real Madrid hang on to the lead for the remaining games of the season, it would end its worst slump since the early 1950s.

''We now depend on ourselves to win,'' Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain said, he scored the winning goal against Espanyol in the 89th minute. ''We are on the right path to become champions.''

It seems it was only yesterday when Real Madrid was in shambles. David Beckham announced he was leaving the team for the MLS, they only managed to win one game in seven league matches and they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

Not, it seems all is fine and dandy for Real Madrid once again.

McLaren - Mercedes ace driver Kimi Raikkonen is STILL confident he will win the F1 World Championship

Despite mechanical failures that left Kimi Raikkonen no choice but to give up the lead to Lewis Hamilton, he is still confident he'll win the F1 title.

Yes, it was a rather disappointing outing for Kimi Raikkonen at the 2007 Spanish Grand Prix. Not only did he failed to finish the fourth round of the 2007 F1 Season, he gave the lead up to the young rookie named Lewis Hamilton, paving the way for a new era in Formula One racing.

Of course, if you're Kimi Raikkonen and you are Ferrari's bet to succeed the legendary Michael Schumacher, Spain was exactly what you didn't want to happen. After the 2007 Spanish Grand Prix, Kimi is behind championship points leader, Lewis Hamilton, by eight points.

But even with this setback, the fiery Finn is still optimistic about his chances of a title this season. ''There are still thirteen races to go and I am only eight points down on the leader,'' Kimi Raikkonen said.

''Of course I would like to be at the top of the classification but as I have often said, there is still no reason to worry about it yet. The true effect of this retirement will only be known at the end of the season.''

''I am not the type to go over what has happened and I'm not about to start now. This is part of racing and it's impossible to change what has happened. Retiring from a race is the worst part of our sport and it makes you feel the worst. Points have been lost and there's no going back.''

''I asked the team if I could go quickly and I'm pleased they saw that giving me permission was the right thing to do,'' the Ferrari ace driver added.

Can Kimi Raikkonen bounce back at the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix on May 27? Who will win the F1 drivers championship? Bodog has the odds.

Cowboys still stuck in Terrell Owens - Bill Parcells war

Isn't Parcells retired from NFL Football already?

Yup, he is retired and guess what, he still is but even with Bill Parcells, former coach of the Dallas Cowboys, walking away from the game of football, for some reason, this feud between him and Cowboys wideout Terrell Owens STILL rages on.

Apparently, the last day of the Cowboys' first minicamp was over and guess what, T.O. can't just let this one end without him opening his big mouth again. (Yeah, we had the exact same thing in the 2006 NFL offseason...)

Terrell Owens was asked by the media what he learned from the legendary NFL head coach and T.O simply said, ''Nothing, really.'' He he... Here we go again eh? Well, for what it's worth, Owens is happy that he will be playing for a new head coach in Wade Phillips.

Oh wait... He was happy then too when he first arrived in Dallas looking forward to play for Bill Parcells, he was still fresh then from a rather fucked-up feud with Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles. And now, he's saying all these shit all over again? Hmm...

FOR NOW... Terrell Owens is saying all these nice stuff about his new head coach and nobody from the media dared to stop this fucked up moron from talking about his new buddy, Wade Phillips.

''Everybody knows he's a a laid-back coach, obviously a little different than Bill. I don't think you have to be a disciplinarian to get your point across,'' Terrell Owens said. ''I think having a new head coach is good for everybody.''

He adds, ''It's a little bit more relaxed. I think you can tell that by the atmosphere in the locker room. I don't think I just have to really spell it out for you, but I think it's very evident.''

He he... This is the same guy who also looked forward to playing alongside Drew Bledsoe. When Tony Romo replaced Bledsoe as the Cowboys' starting QB, T.O. again praised the decision. Hmm... I wonder what T.O. said to Romo when he fumbled that field goal attempt back in the playoffs?

Somebody tell Evander Holyfield to retire

seth-edward-oneal.jpgJust when you thought you saw the last of all these pathetic comebacks from a heavyweight (that's all of Mike Tyson's fights...) this happens.

Evander ''the Real Deal'' Holyfield announced that he wants to keep fighting so he can walk away from boxing, once again Heavyweight Champion of the world. Of course, at his age, we all know that won't happen by any stretch of the imagination.

Evander Holyfield is now 44 years old and, as if defying father time, he'll STILL take on Lou Savarese on June 30 for yet another comeback fight. Yep, this old fart will just keep on going and going until somebody knocks his lights out for good.

Don't get me wrong, Evander Holyfield is STILL one of the best fighters to ever set foot on a boxing ring but for a guy whose last real significant win was when he got his ear bitten off, THIS IS JUST PATHETIC. Of course, Holyfield thinks otherwise.

''Age ain't nothing but a number,'' Evander Holyfield said.

Holyfield is doing good as far as his comeback fights are concerned. Even at 44, he still managed to win the first three fights of his comeback trail. And they were all held in Texas. However, as good as he still is (maybe...) the manner of which he wins is not as explosive as it was back in the day.

In his latest win over Vinny Maddalone, the referee awarded the bout to Holyfield just because Maddalone kept on bleeding from his forehead. He he... And he's suppose to be a great champion? Jeez...

Holyfield, 41-8 with two draws and 27 knockouts, beat Fres Oquendo in San Antonio in November and Jeremy Bates in Dallas last August, his first fight in two years. Lou Savarese, on the other hand, is a 41-year-old former title contender who came out of retirement in April for a shot at an elusive crown. He is 46-6 with 38 knockouts.

Evander Holyfield's promoter, Kathy Duva of Main Events, said the Savarese fight has been dubbed ''The Road to the Heavyweight Championship'' and promises to propel the winner to bigger bouts.

Yeah right.

Will Hard Spun CHOKE again at 2007 Preakness Stakes?

The last time we saw Hard Spun, he let Street Sense breeze by to win the 2007 Kentucky Derby.

Now, Street Sense is on the verge of a Triple Crown win with a victory at the 2007 Preakness Stakes. As for Hard Spun, the colt is probably contemplating on what might have been. Then again, we all know that the jockeys do the thinking for them anyway.

And speaking of jockeys, the king of the Pimlico Race Course, home of the 2007 Preakness Stakes this Saturday, Mario Pino, will try not to let Street Sense go pass Hard Spun again.

He found out how sweet it was to lead a 20-horse field at the 2007 Kentucky Derby. To lead the first leg of the Triple Crown series only to have it snatched away by Street Sense like that was just unfortunate and Pino, coming to his own yard at Pimlico, will make sure that doesn't happen again. Of course, he knows that those moments doesn't come often, especially in horse racing.

''I don't think I'll ever have that feeling again. I've been around 29 years and never had that thrill,'' said the 49-year-old veteran jockey who ranks 15th all-time with 5899 winning rides.

Mario Pino talked about what he felt when he lead the 2007 Kentucky Derby before Street Sense passed him.

''I'm trying to keep my composure. I'm thinking about all the years when I was little and now I'm turning for home and I'm three in front and I'm still sitting there and I'm trying to keep focused, because I know it's a long way (in the stretch) at Churchill Downs and the roar of the crowd was just something.''

''You know I've heard people tell me that, but you hear it and you feel it. It was a roar just hitting you in the face as you turn for home and I said 'No one's going to beat me.''

''As soon as I said that I saw a lot of horses' heads come into view.''

And yep, one of them was Street Sense.

Manchester United - Chelsea Rivalry in FA Cup Final

seth-edward-oneal.jpgIT'S ON now as the rivalry between the Manchester United Red Devils and the Chelsea FC Blues will be taken to another level this Saturday.

Yep, the two big boys of the English Premiere League will collide Saturday as the Red Devils and the Blues play for the last cup of the English football season, the FA Cup. After everything that's been said, (and that's all coming from Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho...) probably the best rivalry in all of football will be on display at Wembley Stadium for the 2007 FA Cup Final.

Chelsea will come to this huge FA Cup Final, hobbled with injuries. And yeah, their backs will be up against the wall alright. The Blues will miss the services of explosive striker Andriy Shevchenko, defender Ricardo Carvalho and, probably their biggest loss, superstar Michael Ballack.

To make things worse for Chelsea, three more key players could be out for Saturday's rivalry championship fixture against Manchester United. LB Ashley Cole, wingman Arjen Robben and midfielder Mikel John Obi are all waiting for fitness updates, STILL looking for the green light to play.

On the other hand, Manchester United will come to the 2007 FA Cup Final as the new English Premier League champions.

The Red Devils were able to dethrone Chelsea in the Premiership this season and they will be looking to down the Blues one more time to win the FA Cup. Man-U's Michael Carrick knows what's at stake Saturday, and he wants the FA Cup BAD.

''Sometimes finals are exciting, on other occasions they are not,'' Michael Carrick said. ''Being back at Wembley does give the match a bit of extra spice. In the back of your mind, you really wanted to be part of it.''

''But we are not interested in going there and losing, so as long as we are lifting that trophy at the end I am not too bothered whether it is a good game or not.''

Can Manchester United beat rivals Chelsea to win the 2007 FA Cup trophy? Who will become champions of the 2007 English FA Cup? Bodog has the odds on who will win the 2007 FA Cup Finals.

What to do with the Barry Bonds 756th home run baseball?

If Barry Bonds' record-breaking 756th home run was coming right at you and you happen to catch it, would you keep it or would you throw it away?

OF COURSE, I'd keep it. No question about it. Heck, I might just get myself a decent Lamborghini for it and I don't give a damn if the guy hitting it right out of the ballpark is one miserable junkie.

However, for some reason, some people are saying that if they catch Bonds' 756th home run ball, they'd throw it back. He he... Yep, these guys actually think that if they throw the 756 Bonds ball back, it'll be in protest to everything MLB Baseball allowed Barry Bonds to do. Some people even think that by throwing it back, it'll be for the honor of Hank Aaron.

Jeezus... I say these guys are the ones on drugs. NOT BONDS. Puh-leaze... You'd throw all that cash for one pathetic cause against MLB Baseball? Gimme' a break. That ball could be worth millions and millions of dollars. After all, it will hold the record for most home runs in American baseball.

Throwing the 756th home run baseball back just to see how will the San Francisco Giants star react is just plain ridiculous. Heck, you might as well throw your wallet with the goddamn ball if you're willing to throw money away like that.

Yeah, sure, Bonds could've used steroids to earn him the 756 home runs but hey, we're getting screwed by jacked-up gas prices everyday anyway so I wouldn't mind getting paid for a record-breaking baseball coming from a guy on dope.

Is throwing Bonds' 756th home run ball the political exclamation point of a sporting century? Is that one guy who's stupid enough to throw Barry Bonds' record-breaking home run baseball back stamp indelible pleasure on the very story we obviously just can't get enough of?

Um... NO. Unfortunately, the one who'll throw Bonds' 756th home run ball won't be any of those. Not by a long shot. He'll simply be the moron who threw millions of dollars away.

Will we see a classic 2007 FA Cup Final between rivals Manchester United and Chelsea Saturday?

Well, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants one.

Known for his psychological tactics before any huge football game, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was yapping and yapping about his rivals again before their epic 2007 FA Cup Final on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea will play rivals Manchester United for the last cup of the season, the 2007 FA Cup, and as much as Chelsea wants to win this one after losing the Premiership title to Man-U, Mourinho STILL wants a ''classic match.'' What he meant by that, only he can tell.

''Everybody has a responsibility in the final, everybody, me, Sir Alex, the players, referee Mr. Bennett and his assistants. I will be very sad and disappointed if the final is not a good event, a fair event, without problems, with a good winner and proud loser,'' Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho said.

He adds, ''I want to win but Man-United want to win. Chelsea gave a good example of how to behave when we lost the Premiership crown. I would be disappointed if some of the players were diving or trying to get others red-carded, I would be very disappointed with that.''

Hmm... Trying to influence the game officials' calls already heading to the 2007 FA Cup Final? He he... Well, it is very well documented that Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, tends to take dives a lot every time the young gunner attacks the opposing team's penalty box.

You just know Jose Mourinho had this in mind when he was making such comments.

''Mr. Bennett has enough experience and has had a very low profile season. In a referee, a low profile is the best quality he can have,'' Mourinho added. ''When you don't remember a referee in the game then it is because he was perfect. Mr. Bennett has had a low profile season and it is a big event for him.''

Yep, Jose Mourinho is truly the master of psychological warfare.

Can Jose Mourinho lead Chelsea to the 2007 FA Cup trophy? Who will become champions of the 2007 English FA Cup? Bodog has the odds on who will win the 2007 FA Cup Finals.

Gilbert Arenas' consolation is NBA Live 2008 cover

Yep, he missed the 2007 NBA playoffs this year, but hell, he's EA Sports' NBA Live 2008 cover boy and he couldn't care less about the postseason.

He he... Yep, Gilbert Arenas, despite a disappointing end to what has been a break-out season for good 'ol Gilby, has played well enough to earn him the cover of EA Sports' annual but not cursed... YET, NBA Live video game series.

Gilbert Arenas is on the cover of NBA Live 2008 and as much as Gilby wants it to mean something more, it doesn't. It just means he's the NBA player featured in the game while his Washington Wizards got their asses kicked in the 2007 NBA playoffs.

Well, for what it's worth, Gilbert Arenas is happy. After all, it's not everyday you become the cover athlete of one of EA Sports' well-marketed sports video games.

''This is a dream come true,'' said Arenas. ''I'm a huge gamer and have been playing NBA Live since 1995. I never imagined that I would see my face on the cover of an EA SPORTS video game.''

Hmm... Sounds like that's all these sports athletes long for these days.

Gilbert Arenas finished the 2006-07 NBA regular season averaging 28.4 points and 6.0 assists per game. Arenas was the first player from the 2001 draft class to be named to the All-Star team in 2005 and now has three consecutive all-star appearances to his credit.

In the ultimate salute to his climb from relative unknown to NBA All-Star, fans voted Arenas a starter on the Eastern Team at the 2007 NBA All-Star Game. And yep, he joins other NBA Live cover athletes like Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter after becoming the cover boy of NBA Live 2008.

Yep, it sure was one heckuva' season for good 'ol Gilby. From all of his 30-plus point-performances to his game-winners at the buzzer, Arenas sure has made the 2006-07 NBA season a spectacle to watch.

It's a shame Gilbert Arenas couldn't help his Washington Wizards in the postseason.

How Roger Clemens returned to the New York Yankees

seth-edward-oneal.jpgProbably to save the Yankees from what has been a disastrous start to the new MLB season, they brought the Rocket back.

The New York Yankees, in a lack of a better term... SUCK in these early stages of the 2007-08 MLB Baseball season. Yeah, sure, they probably have the hottest guy at bat right now in Alex Rodriguez but MLB baseball doesn't give you wins for homeruns, OBVIOUSLY.

Of course, the New York Yankees know that and they know too that they have to do something soon to salvage their year. And perhaps in a desperate attempt to do just that, they're getting this old fart back, Roger Clemens.

The familiar voice of public-address announcer Bob Sheppard was heard during the seventh-inning stretch of a New York Yankees baseball game. Sheppard announced that indeed ''The Rocket'' Roger Clemens will be playing for the New York Yankees again in a few weeks. Of course, the crowd in Yankee stadium rejoiced.

And mind you, this was the same crowd who called Clemens an ''ASS-tro'' when he decided to leave the Bronx for the Houston Astros. Go figure.

With microphone in hand, Roger Clemens personally announced his return to New York. ''Well, they came and got me out of Texas and I can tell you it's a privilege to be back,'' Roger Clemens said. ''I'll be talking to y'all soon.''

With his brief address, shown on the right-center field video board to 52,553 fans and many more watching on television, the Rocket rejoined the Yankees in most dramatic fashion to help New York in their somewhat ridiculous campaign to the 2007 MLB Baseball season.

''Roger Clemens is a winner and a champion, and he is someone who can be counted on to help make this season one that all Yankees fans can be proud of,'' team owner George Steinbrenner said in a statement.

Steinbrenner adds, ''The sole mission of this organization is to win a world championship.'' He he... Well Mr. Steinbrenner, ya'll are STILL a long way from there.

Who should be the 2007 NHL Playoffs MVP? (And no... They don't have to win the Stanley Cup...)

As the 2007 NHL Playoffs inch closer to the Conference Finals, the debate on who should be the postseason MVP begins.

Dubbed as the Conn Smythe Trophy, the 2007 NHL Playoffs MVP is awarded obviously to that player who proved how valuable he is NOT ONLY to his team but to the league.

The common mistake these sports leagues make, especially in the NBA is that they award MVP trophies to guys who are valuable ONLY to their team. Yeah, in case you didn't realized it yet, I do have a problem with Steve Nash winning MVP awards during the last couple of years in the NBA.

Yes, Steve Nash is valuable to the Phoenix Suns but c'mon, Kobe Bryant was and STILL is THAT valuable to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Suns can live by without Nash but the Lakers without Kobe? Forget about it. Besides, he did have that 81-point game last season, making him VALUABLE not only to the NBA but to the rest of basketball.

Let's hope the NHL doesn't make the same stupid mistake.

So who's it going to be? Let's start with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. We have Jean-Sebastien Giguere, the winner of the 2003 Conn Smythe Trophy. Although the guy didn't start in the first four games of the playoffs, the Mighty Ducks star did manage to play good enough to be a postseason MVP candidate. Besides, he was attending to his infant son's serious eye issue then to start the playoffs so cut him some slack.

Nicklas Lidstrom has just been BIG for the Detroit Red Wings. In the final four games against the San Jose Sharks, Lidstrom averaged 29:05, 29:04, 36:09 and 28:34 a night, respectively, in ice time. As team captain, Lidstrom's quiet presence and unflappable nature set the tone for a Red Wings team that will do so with patience and hard work.

Of course, you can't have a list like this without the surprising Ottawa Senators right? The Senators are still alive and kicking in the 2007 NHL Playoffs and it's probably all because of this guy, Dany Heatley.

The Senators were nowhere to be found after the second round of the playoffs last year. Thanks to Heatley, the Senators are now on a mission to bring the 2007 Stanley Cup home as the only remaining Canadian team in the postseason.

Heatley, together with linemates Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson, combined for 23 points in a five-game series win over the masters of stifle, the New Jersey Devils. Heatley is tied for the playoff scoring lead with the now idle Scott Gomez with 14 points and his seven power-play points are also tied for the playoff lead.

Pistons sweep Bulls in Game 4... It's that simple... Again.

He he... Okay folks, bring out them broomsticks again because the Detroit Pistons will be sweeping yet another team in the playoffs.

It's kinda' nice when life gets this simple eh? Enter the first round, welcome the visitors, SWEEP THEM. Enter the second round, welcome the visitors, SWEEP THEM. Yep, life sure is simple to the rampaging Detroit Pistons as they are now in prime position to win it all this season.

After showing to the whole world how simple it was to sweep the Orlando Magic, the Detroit Pistons now look like they're ready to do the exact same thing to the Chicago Bulls.

In Games 1 and 2, at the Palace of Auburn Hills, the Detroit Pistons were virtually in control of the young Chicago Bulls as the Pistons won both games in rather emphatic fashion. The Pistons trashed the Bulls in Game 1, 95-69, before trashing them yet again, 108-87 in Game 2 as Detroit took a 2-0 lead over Chicago.

In Game 3, the Bulls definitely looked like they were ready to respond to Detroit's challenge after taking a commanding 44-28 lead at halftime. The only problem was, destiny began taking over and destiny picked the Pistons.

The Bulls blew a 19-point lead as the Pistons outscored the Bulls in the third quarter, 32-17, before doing it again in the fourth, 21-13, as Detroit took a commanding 3-0 lead with only a win away from yet another sweep.

Tayshaun Prince and Chauncey Billups stepped up at just the right time and the Detroit Pistons are on the verge of another trip to the Eastern Conference finals. Prince scored 23 points and Billups added 21, as the Pistons rallied from a 19-point deficit to beat the Chicago Bulls 81-74 on Thursday night in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Game 4 will still be in Chicago. Of course, from there, we know it's academic. Pistons win.

What will make Barry Bonds and the rest of these MLB players talk about their brush with steroids?

Yep, former U.S. Senator George Mitchell has been asking himself that for quite some time now.

The ex-Senator of the proud U.S. of A has been assigned to do what everybody has been trying to accomplish, clean up this steroids issue in MLB Baseball. Yep, Mr. Mitchell could be dealing with the impossible. He he...

NOBODY has been able to pull off this clean-up job and I'm betting it will stay that way for a damn long time unless America just accepts the fact that their baseball stars are... quite frankly, junkies... (Yep, Barry Bonds, the same man who'll probably overtake the legendary Hank Aaron in homeruns this season, is a goddamn junkie...)

Mitchell, probably desperate to get this ''Mission Impossible'' over with, is now asking MLB players politely to finally spill out everything. Of course, it's harder than you think. It'll be THAT hard that Mitchell will probably need more than luck to pull this thing off. So wish him luck, he'll probably need it BAD. He he...

George Mitchell doesn't have much of a choice anyway. He doesn't have the power to require ANYBODY to do ANYTHING. That means, he'll just be relying on the players' goodwill. Good luck with that grandpa.

Yeah sure, the guy's very well connected. He has all these friends in high places. But what he doesn't have is probably the most important thing of all to pull off MLB's rather ridiculous job and that's subpoena power.

The old fart doesn't have the legal power to ''force'' anybody to talk. And yeah, without that one single legal muscle, we saw this guy bang to the brick wall he has been slamming into for the past 14 months. It's really getting tiresome really.

What these players are asking, privately, is what the upside is for them, for their friends and teammates, even for the sport, if they agree to talk. I guess what these MLB players should be asking George Mitchell is does he SPIT or SWALLOW?

Team Renault crisis in the 2007 F1 Season?

seth-edward-oneal.jpgHe he... Of course, Renault big boss Flavio Briatore denies it.

Who cares? He he... His pathetic cars are nowhere to be found in the starting grid these days anyway. And if he STILL doesn't call that a crisis then, by all means, have him call it a ''dream season'' for all I care.

The 2007 Formula One season kicked off in disappointing fashion for Team Renault. He he... Aside from those stupid new uniforms, Renault has struggled to come to terms with their new Bridgestone tires.

As a result, Renault is having somewhat a dramatic loss of pace, with the Anglo/French squad roughly a second off the pace of the front-running McLarens and Ferraris. Renault, though, have also fallen behind BMW and are, at a push, only the fourth best team on the grid this season.

The reigning Constructors World Champions have also yet to claim a single podium finish this season never mind a race win. In fact after three races, the team already trails Championship-leaders McLaren by 35 points.

And yep, Briatore STILL refuses to accept that Renault has a goddamn crisis.

''To have a crisis meeting you first need a crisis, and we don't have one,'' Flavio Briatore said.

''There is a gap in our performance compared to the top teams, and we need to make that up. We will do it by working hard and trusting in our engineers to find the solutions, not by panicking.''

''We have plans for our development and for solving the problems, and we will follow them. As always, we have to balance that against designing and developing next year's car, and perhaps we will find some concepts that are relevant for this year.''

''But finding the right compromise is always one of the challenges in F1, and we have not given up on 2007.''

War of Words between Spurs - Suns before Game 3

Surprise, surprise, San Antonio Spurs defensive minister, Bruce Bowen, made another enemy for himself in the playoffs.

Remember last year's playoffs when Bruce Bowen got his pal Ray Allen so pissed off in the playoffs that ''Jesus Shuttlesworth,'' (I'm talking about Ray in case you missed that Spike Lee movie...) now looks at Bowen as an enemy?

Well, Bowen did it again this year and although Amare Stoudemire and Mr. Bowen here are not really the best of friends like him and Ray Allen were, it's still something to look forward to in Game 3.

Games 3 and 4 will be played in San Antonio, Texas and despite being blown away by the somewhat irritated Phoenix Suns in Game 2, the Spurs will STILL have momentum coming to Game 3 after winning one game at the desert to steal the homecourt advantage.

And with Phoenix Suns' superstar Amare Stoudemire probably coming into Game 3 not ready to play some basketball but to keep an eye on Bruce instead, Phoenix could be in trouble.

You see, this is what Bowen does best, piss people off and let them beat themselves.

Yes, Bruce Bowen is not really THAT good of a defender. What he is really is one irritating sonuvabitch who gets inside people's skin before fucking them up mentally to help his San Antonio Spurs win games. Phoenix has the exact same thing too in Raja Bell but compared to Bowen, Bell just looks like a homosexual angel.

An example of how Amare Stoudemire is having his brains scrambled by Bowen before Game 3? Read this.

''He's going to get somebody injured out there,'' Stoudemire said. ''He has a don't-care type of attitude and it showed in Game 2 when he kicked me purposely in the back of my Achilles. I almost came down wrong and caused an injury.''

Blah blah blah...

F1 Season resumes with 2007 Spanish Grand Prix

seth-edward-oneal.jpgIt's been a month since the last F1 race that left us with three drivers tied atop the drivers championship race.

Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton are all tied with 22 points each at the top of this year's race for the drivers' championship. This is the first F1 season in the post Michael Schumacher era and boy, it's really turning out to be a battle.

On May 13, the 2007 F1 season will resume in Spain with the 2007 Spanish Grand Prix just around the corner. And get this, Felipe Massa, Ferrari's No.2 Brazilian driver, likes his chances despite having two-time defending F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso probably lining up close to him on the grid in front of his adoring fans, in his home country.

The Brazilian is five points behind team-mate Kimi Raikkonen and the McLaren duo of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, but insists he can be crowned Drivers' Champion because he has the machinery to do so.

Felipe Massa said, ''The world title is my objective, and I think I have the car to win it.'' Hmm... Wishful thinking perhaps? He he... Oh yeah, he knows for sure that his younger and probably more talented Ferrari teammate, Kimi Raikkonen is going for the exact same thing.

The 25-year-old won the Bahrain Grand Prix a few weeks ago to get his title bid back on track. He believes that any one of four drivers could be crowned champion.

''All three of them [Alonso, Hamilton and Raikkonen] by an equal amount,'' Felipe Massa said when asked who he feared the most. ''The reason they are a bit ahead now is down to technical problems we had in the first race in Melbourne and to a couple of mistakes in the second GP in Malaysia.''

''But I think I've sorted the situation fairly well with victory in Bahrain.''

Who will win the F1 drivers championship? Bodog has the odds.

Kimi Raikkonen 7/4

Fernando Alonso 7/4

Lewis Hamilton 9/2

Felipe Massa 5/2

2007 F1 Season 2007 Spanish Grand Prix

You can't score against these goalies in the Eastern Conference, especially in the 2007 NHL Playoffs

Yes, a team from the Eastern Conference will take the 2007 Stanley Cup home. And yep, it'll be the remaining Canadian team in the postseason.

Only four teams remain on the road for the 2007 Stanley Cup. The Ottawa Senators and the Buffalo Sabres are playing in the Eastern Conference finals while the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and the Detroit Red Wings are settling their differences in the West.

As talented as the Ducks and the Red Wings are, it seems the Eastern Conference has the talent to take home the Stanley Cup this season. Of course, the Detroit Red Wings do have all those Stanley Cup titles and they can score faster than a hiccup but hey, this is about the two remaining goalkeepers in the Eastern Conference playoffs so work with me here.

Let's start with the Cinderella team of the 2007 NHL Playoffs, the Ottawa Senators. The Senators are the only Canadian team remaining in the postseason and the pressure is on them to bring the 2007 Stanley Cup back for home country Canada.

The Ottawa Senators have Ray Emery in front of the goal. The 24-year-old Emery is making his first trip to the conference finals. Last season, he got the starting job from an injured Dominik Hasek after the Olympic break. Emery backstopped the Senators to a first-round victory over Tampa Bay Lightning. But then, in the conference semis, he couldn't hold off the Buffalo Sabres, which took out Ottawa in five games.

This season, Emery won the starting job from high-priced, free-agent pickup Martin Gerber. By season's end, Emery appeared in a career-best 58 games, posting 33 wins, a 2.47 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.

The Buffalo Sabres, on the other hand, have Ryan Miller. Miller is making his second trip to the conference finals. Last season, behind an injury-depleted defense, the former Michigan State star backstopped the Sabres to a Game 7 against the Hurricanes. Despite Miller's best efforts, Buffalo couldn't overcome Carolina in Raleigh.

This season, Miller continued to provide strong goaltending for Lindy Ruff's team. In 63 games, he went 40-16-6 with a 2.73 GAA and a .911 save percentage. He has been just as strong in the first two playoff rounds, going 8-3 with a 2.04 GAA and a .928 save percentage.
