Colts and Saints meet in 2007 NFL Football Season Opener

No, it ain't September yet.

Yep, the 2007-08 NFL Football schedule has been released, partially anyway, as the defending Super Bowl XLI champions Indianapolis Colts meet the NFC runner-up New Orleans Saints, in the season opener.

The partial schedule released features a balanced feature of games as both Fox and NBC received big interconference matchups. First, we'll have an offensive showdown between the Indianapolis Colts with the ever consistent Peyton Manning facing the New Orleans Saints led by the inconsistently explosive Drew Brees.

Next, we'll see the Chicago Bears and the San Diego Chargers play what should be a defensive-minded NFL Football game. Bears MLB Brian Urlacher will go up against the Chargers' defensive powerhouse, ''Lights Out'' Shawn Merriman, in a game where both of the team's quarterbacks will probably suck like a five-dollar Las Vegas whore.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell disclosed a partial list of the league's TV schedule at the NFL owners meeting in Phoenix.

This Colts-Saints game to begin the 2007 NFL Football season could be big for the Super Bowl XLI MVP Peyton Manning. After all, Peyton's dad, Archie, was a former Saints quarterback thus making Peyton love them Saints growing up.

Peyton Manning will be coming into this game as a Super Bowl champion for the first time in his illustrious career so he would just love it if he can open up the 2007 NFL Football season with a four-touchdown performance.

Kickoff is on September 6, Thursday night on NBC.

Can the Indianapolis Colts become the favorites to win Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Arizona? Here are the odds from Bodog:

San Diego Chargers 6/1

New England Patriots 10/1

Chicago Bears 8/1

Indianapolis Colts 7/1

2007 FA Cup Semi Finals remember its heroes

seth-edward-oneal.jpgBefore we probably see both Manchester United and Chelsea pound on their rivals to advance to the 2007 FA Cup finals, read this.

With still a few weeks away from the 2007 FA Cup Semi Finals, soccer fans must not forget the heroes from the past that made this little trophy they call the FA Cup that much more worth playing for.

Dave Beasant. Massive underdogs Wimbledon beat Liverpool 1-0 to lift The Cup in 1988, just 11 years after being elected into the Football League. Beasant's penalty save from John Aldridge on the hour was the first in a Wembley final and as Dons' captain he became the first goalkeeper to receive The Cup - on this occasion from HRH The Princess of Wales.

Tim Buzaglo. Striker Tim's first claim to fame was playing cricket for Gibraltar. Then, in 1991, he scored a Third Round hat-trick for Isthmian League Woking as they caused a major Cup upset by beating Brian Talbot's West Bromwich Albion 4-2 at The Hawthorns. Albion were then in the Second Division. In the next round the non-Leaguers lost by the only goal at Everton.

Eric Cantona. The Frenchman won The Cup twice in three years with Manchester United. In '94 he slammed home two spot-kicks inside seven minutes as Chelsea were overwhelmed 4-0. In '96 he scored the only goal of the Final with a volley through a crowd of players five minutes from time and then collected The Cup as United's captain.

Harry Cursham. Henry "Harry" Cusham is hardly a household name today but no player in history has scored more goals in The Cup. In a ten-year period, from 1877 to 1887, he scored 49. He got 48 in the Competition Proper and one in a Fourth Round Qualifying tie against Staveley. His biggest haul was six against Wednesbury Strollers in an 11-1 win.

Who is this New Jersey Nets rookie named Josh Boone?

And I thought Mikki Moore is ready to take over New Jersey and give Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd the boot.

Yep, in a rather strange place like New Jersey, a rookie named Josh Boone is getting all the accolades lately. Yep, and to think the New Jersey Nets are trying to pump up their ''big three'' as they prepare that push for the NBA Playoffs.

Josh Boone, all of a sudden, is becoming a solid offensive threat for the New Jersey Nets.

In victories over the Charlotte Bobcats and the Indiana Pacers, Boone made a combined 21 of 23 shots and scored 43 points. Over the past three games he has hit 13 shots and 9 shots in a row.

His shots have all come from point-blank range and he has been the beneficiary of pinpoint passes from players like Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and Marcus Williams.

''When you have guys that are making passes the way my teammates are, it's relatively easy because they draw so much attention that there's typically no one within a couple feet of me,'' Josh Boone said.

Well, if it means anything, this ''Josh Boone craze'' started when backup point guard Marcus Williams began passing the ball to Boone just like they did back in college. After a few games, the Nets are still getting him the ball and guess what, Josh Boone is STILL scoring in bunches.

Boone scored a career-high 21 points (on 10-of-10 shooting) against the lowly Charlotte Bobcats last Saturday, then broke that mark with 22 points in the Nets' next game, against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.

Although Boone's shots were all near the basket, what he did might not have been as simple as it looked.

''You got to withstand all those bumps and pushes and everything that some people don’t see,'' said Mikki Moore, who'll I guess be back handing teammates Gatorades huh?

Can Josh Boone help the New Jersey Nets get to the NBA Playoffs? Who will win the 2007 NBA Championship? Here are some odds from Bodog:

Steven Gerrard saved England coach Steve McClaren

FOR NOW.

Yep, for all ya'll unfamiliar with the ongoing 2008 European Championship qualifiers, England head coach Steve McClaren has been under fire lately after a series of subpar performances that saw his team of football superstars unable to score one single goal.

That all ended against Andorra when Steven Gerrard scored two second half goals to give England the 3-0 win in their 2008 European Championship qualifying match. I guess this will buy Steve McClaren a couple more days as head coach eh?

Wayne Rooney chested a ball to Gerrard on the edge of the area before the Liverpool midfielder sent a low volley through the crowd into the bottom left of goal in the 54th minute. He scored the second in the 76th after taking Jermaine Defoe's through pass and slowly rolling the ball under goalkeeper Koldo Alvarez.

''We came her to win the game, and it was important to do that and we got the job done,'' Steve McClaren said. ''I'm proud of the players. We've won the game and now we move on. We have to make sure we beat Estonia (in the next match) and then it's on to the next run-in of games (in September).''

Uh... September? Are you sure you'll still be around then?

It seemed England was on its way to yet another embarrassing loss when Steven Gerrard got up on his ass and finally scored a goddamn goal. Will it save Steve McClaren's hiny now?

17,000 traveling England supporters were constantly booing the England head coach before Gerrard's goal. Heck, they made it clear that they want McClaren out even before England's win over Andorra.

''During the game it isn't nice for the players, certainly,'' England captain John Terry said. ''They're the fans (and they're) entitled to their opinion. But I think for the players' sake, and England's sake, it's best if they keep their opinions until after the game.''

Detroit Pistons WILL GO to the NBA Finals

No matter what the silly Miami Heat team thinks.

If you already quit thinking about how the Miami Heat will get back in shape, or maybe when will Dwyane Wade rejoin the godforsaken team, then you're ready to get your ass back to the real world.

And in the real world, the Detroit Pistons are getting ready for yet another title run. How? Well, Detroit during the last couple of weeks, proved again just how deep they are, that any player can carry the team any given night.

Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton, Chris Webber, Tayshaun Prince and my man Rasheed Wallace showed the NBA that each one of them is still capable of carrying the Pistons towards a 'W.' And guess what, the Pistons found out that this premise stretches even further to the Pistons bench.

During the last couple of weeks, we saw Flip Murray virtually carry the scoring load for Detroit. When Chauncey Billups went down with a groin injury, Flip Murray took over the scoring load in the second half of their game against the tough Phoenix Suns. Flip dropped a season-high then, proving just how deep this Detroit team is this season.

How about Jason Maxiell? Yeah, Detroit sure misses the services of Ben Wallace but if you just look how Maxiell plays, I'm sure you'll see the similarities between him and the former Piston who went to the Windy City. He plays defense and has a knack for the ball as if it was his girlfriend's pus...

There's also Carlos Delfino, probably the biggest weapon the Pistons discovered in the 2007 NBA Basketball season. Delfino came out of nowhere from being a nobody deep in the Pistons bench to a consistent part of head coach Flip Saunders' eight-man rotation.

Judging by the way Delfino performs every single time I catch a Pistons game, I can tell that the guy is ready for the big boys. Heck, he's ready to lead a team, say, the Charlotte Bobcats, and be a franchise player.

Of course, I'll shoot myself in the head once the Detroit Pistons decide to let this unique talent go.

Can the Detroit Pistons make it to the NBA Playoffs? Who will win the 2007 NBA Championship? Here are some odds from Bodog:

Jaworski joins new NFL Monday Night Football team

seth-edward-oneal.jpgJa-wors-ki! Ja-wors-ki! Yep, we'll be chanting that loud once the new NFL Football begins in September.

Er... Maybe not. Who gives a fuck about Monday Night Football games' commentators team anyway? We watch NFL Monday Night Football because we want to see football and not three old farts flirt with each other.

Well, for what its worth, there will indeed be a new man in the MNF booth. Former NFL quarterback Ron Jaworski joins the still balding duo of Mike Tirico and Tony Kornkeiser on the ESPN telecast of NFL Monday Night Football.

Jaworski replaces Joe Theismann, also a former NFL quarterback. Well, I guess Monday Night Football made a quarterback change on this one eh?

''We appreciate the work Joe has done for 19 years and continue to talk with him about another high-profile football role with ESPN,'' Norby Williamson said. Williamson is ESPN's executive vice president for studio and remote production.

So what's the reason for this sudden quarterback change? Williamson said it isn't about chemistry between the last three guys.

''I thought Joe and Tony got along very well, and I thought the dialogue was good and was conversational,'' Williamson said. ''I think we're going to build on last year. We had a fantastic first year. I was happy with the booth and I think we're in a position now of continuing to move it forward and to build on it.''

Jaworski, who played 17 years in the NFL, most notably as quarterback of the Eagles, joined ESPN in 1990. He has been a prominent NFL analyst for the network and his studio duties will now be spread among ESPN's other NFL analysts, including newcomers Emmitt Smith and Bill Parcells.

''I'm an 'Xs-and-Os' guy. I love breaking down the game. I love the strategy of the game,'' Jaworski claims. ''That's the beauty of what I will bring to the table is that insight of 'Xs and Os.'''

Yeah right.

No Treble for Manchester United says Sir Alex Ferguson

How's that for jinxing everything Manchester United have going for them this year eh?

Manchester United is STILL in contention for the Premiership, the 2007 FA Cup and the Champions League this year. However, that doesn't impress Sir Alex Ferguson one bit as he believes that Man-U won't be able to repeat the treble glory they had back in 1999.

Barely eight years ago, Manchester United was able to come up with a dramatic end to their season, winning the Premiership, the FA Cup and the Champions League all in the same campaign.

They are still on track of repeating all that again but Sir Alex Ferguson believes that another treble campaign is near to an impossibility.

''No one talks about that. It is a possibility but more of an impossibility given the number of games we have,'' Sir Alex Ferguson said.

''I think the competition in the Premier Division has got harder in the last few years and the standard is better in Europe.''

Hmm... Already releasing himself perhaps from the pressure of repeating Manchester United's historic treble in 1999?

For what it's worth, Sir Alex Ferguson feels the Premiership is now the best league in the world.

''The quality we have in the Premier League is the highest. I think we have overtaken Spain,'' he said.

''The excitement and entertainment in the Premier League is second to none.''

Of course, Fergie here is yet to get laid.

Gators – Buckeyes rematch for 2007 NCAA Basketball Title

After weeks and weeks of anticipation, the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national championship will finally be decided.

Yep, the entire field of 65 in the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament was chopped down and reduced to the Sweet 16, the Elite Eight, the Final Four and finally, to the TWO TEAMS that will compete for the biggest prize in all of college hoops.

And yep, the legendary Dick Vitale will definitely go ga-ga over this one on Monday as the Florida Gators and the Ohio State Buckeyes play for the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national championship in a rematch of the BCS title game.

As for me, I'm still grieving about the North Carolina Tar Heels not making it this year after a strong start in the regular season as well as in the 2007 March Madness tournament but hey, I guess there's always next season.

Oh yeah, the final two tams that will play for the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national title will have a highly-contested game for sure. Of course, with the remaining two teams being highly-ranked, this game will definitely be the battle of the best.

''We had great parity throughout the tournament and the seeds held up,'' said Thomas O'Connor, the athletic director of the George Mason Patriots. ''There's nothing magical about it. That's what makes college basketball a fantastic game. In any given year, you have situations like what occurred last year with us, and then you have what's happening this year.''

So without further delay, here are the two remaining teams that will meet in the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national championship game.

The Florida Gators. Few teams in recent history have been better prepared to defend a national championship than Florida, which returned all five starters and most of its significant reserves. This team is experienced and tournament-tested tough. Despite its late-season slide, look for Florida to continue where it left off in the Big Dance, ripping through their opponents on Monday for another classic battle.

The Ohio State Buckeyes. The knock against Ohio State is a lack of NCAA Tournament experience, and it's a fair judgment. No Buckeye has played more than two games in the Big Dance, and Ohio State, a No.2 seed, was picked apart by No.7 Georgetown 70-52 in the second round of last year's March. But Greg Oden wasn't around then, the guy responsible for sending the Buckeyes where they are now.

And yep, I'm picking the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national title and end Florida's stranglehold of college gold. I mean, the Gators' dominance in college sports has to end sometime right? And Greg Oden gives Ohio State the best opportunity to do just that.

There you go. Are you ready? The 2007 NCAA College Basketball national champions are about to be crowned. Where will you be?

Trump slaps McMahon before WrestleMania 23 Sunday

Yep, the match between World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Chairman Vince McMahon and business tycoon Donald Trump is still on.

For all ya'll who don't know jack, Donald Trump challenged Vince McMahon to a match at WrestleMania 23 where each of them will choose a representative. The representatives will then compete in a wrestling match and once one wrestler loses, the man he's representing gets his hair shaved bald.

THAT means one billionaire will look like an egg once it's all said and done. Returning WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin will referee the match dubbed as the ''battle of the billionaires.''

McMahon chose the ''Samoan Bulldozer'' Umaga to represent him while Donald Trump selected the ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley for their match at WrestleMania 23. WWE's annual spectacle will be in Detroit at Ford Field on Sunday.

The WWE held a press conference at Trump Tower for WrestleMania 23 where Donald Trump and Vince McMahon stood face to face for the last time before one of them gets to look like Stone Cold Steve Austin himself.

So when did Donald Trump slapped Vince McMahon?

Trump and McMahon were both jawing at each other, with McMahon saying, ''I can't wait to see the look on his face after Lashley loses to Umaga. I'm going to snatch Donald Trump, strap him down into this chair, and SHAVE HIS HEAD!''

Of course, Donald Trump retaliated by saying, ''This morning, I was asked by a major television station if Vince McMahon and I are friends. We used to be, but I don't like him one bit lately, and that's the truth. He treats people like crap.''

The match's special guest referee Stone Cold Steve Austin then took center stage, asking the two billionaires for one last photo op while both billionaires have hair. Photographers got their opportunity, but then they got more than they could ask for.

McMahon offered a handshake, but pulled away before ''Da Donald'' could complete the gesture. So, when the WWE Chairman tugged at Trump's jacket and tie, the real estate mogul responded by slapping Mr. McMahon in the face.

Of course, it's all part of the show. What, you still don't know that wrestling is fake?

More witnesses needed on murder of Pakistan's Bob Woolmer in the 2007 Cricket World Cup

At this point, the Jamaican police investigating the Bob Woolmer murder case is just going nowhere.

The Jamaican police made an appeal to the public for more witnesses to come forward regarding the murder of Pakistan cricket head coach Bob Woolmer in the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

Apparently, their investigation is just leading them NOWHERE and quite frankly, they're just making an ass of themselves now.

Deputy police commissioner Mark Shields urged people who had visited Kingston's Pegasus hotel in the 72 hours before the unfortunate death of Bob Woolmer to get in touch. And he urged fans or tourists who had already left Jamaica to contact police.

For all ya'll too busy watching the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament and couldn't care less about this Bob Woolmer murder mystery, the Pakistan cricket head coach was found strangled in his hotel room after Pakistan's surprise World Cup loss to Ireland on March 17.

Now, the police in Jamaica is just begging for any leads.

''What I need to do is to identify everybody in the hotel from Friday through to Sunday when Bob's body was found, in an effort to establish everybody's movements during that period of time,'' Mark Shields said.

''Not just as suspects but as potential witnesses, people who may have heard something, seen something within the hotel that raised their suspicions, that so far they haven't come forward with.''

Mark Shields urged potential witnesses to call a special telephone hotline. No, it ain't 911 silly...

Guillermo Canas has a bitch named Roger Federer

Yep, this guy certainly has Roger Federer's number for sure.

Guillermo Canas, after ending Roger Federer's incredible winning streak in tennis tournaments earlier March, defeated the Swiss sensation again.

Yep, Guillermo Canas, now dubbed as the ''giant killer,'' defeated Roger Federer for the second time in March, 7-6 (7-2), 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) at the 2007 Sony Ericsson Open.

Roger Federer can't beat Guillermo Canas, let's make that one clear. Canas' domination of Federer started a few weeks ago before their rematch at the 2007 Sony Ericsson Open when Canas ended the Swiss' astonishing 41-match winning streak at Indian Wells.

At the Sony Ericsson Open, Canas made sure his win over the No.1 player in the world was no fluke. Jeez... The guy beat ''the man'' twice now. Wow, what's with this guy anyway?

''It's one of those matches I never should have lost,'' Roger Federer said.

Well, you did, making you the sole owner of the title, ''Guillermo Canas' bitch.''

The defeat ended his bid for a third successive Key Biscayne title, while Canas improved to 3-0 this year against top 10 players. He was ranked as high as No.8 before serving a 15-month doping suspension, and he had to qualify for the Key Biscayne draw.

''I'm surprised because I beat two times the number one in the world. Really, I don't know what is my secret,'' Guillermo Canas said. ''I'm just trying to enjoy the moment. For me it's like a dream.''

2007 NCAA Final Four on a collision course Saturday

Saturday, we'll find out who among the 2007 NCAA Final Four will go on and play for the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national title.

The Florida Gators, the UCLA Bruins, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Georgetown Hoyas are your 2007 NCAA Final Four. Yep, the defending NCAA College Basketball champion Gators are still around trying to defend their title.

Speaking of the Florida Gators, Joakim Noah and the rest of the crew will face the UCLA Bruins in a rematch of last year's NCAA College Basketball national championship game. The Gators won big time then, easily dismantling the Bruins 73-57, en route to their first national title.

Yep, expect them Gators to do much of the same. He he... The UCLA Bruins can't beat these guys and don't expect Florida to slip with a win away from going back to the biggest stage in college hoops.

''The ultimate goal is to do it again,'' Florida's Chris Richard said. ''We're one step away from the championship.''

Florida beat UCLA last year in a rout, for its first national championship. That turned out to be the first half of a Gator Slam. When Florida beat the Ohio State Buckeyes for the national football title in January, the Gators became the first school to be champs in both sports at the same time.

Yep, the Florida Gators sure know how to win them national titles eh?

As for their BCS Championship rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes are preparing for a BCS rematch with Florida only this time, it will be for the NCAA College Basketball national title. But before the Buckeyes do that, they have the tough Georgetown Hoyas in their side of the 2007 NCAA Final Four battles.

The Georgetown Hoyas already killed one giant, that being the North Carolina Tar Heels. Of course, Ohio State is a different giant to deal with, especially with a dominating giant named Greg Oden looking to have his way inside the paint against the Hoyas defense.

Greg Oden showed us that he can single-handedly carry a team from any adversity. We saw that against the Memphis Tigers when he led his team to a 20-8 surge to bring the Buckeyes back into the game. Now, Oden has the Hoyas and if you're a smart guy, you wouldn't bet against this giant Buckeye.

Who will advance from the 2007 NCAA Final Four and play for the 2007 NCAA College Basketball national title? Here are the odds to the two huge games on Saturday that will decide who is good enough to play for a championship.

Bob Woolmer murdered to hide the Pakistan match-fixing scandal in the 2007 Cricket World Cup?

Yep, we're still talking about the murder of Pakistan head coach Bob Woolmer.

There are rumors flying around that Pakistan head coach Bob Woolmer was murdered to hide the match-fixing scandal involving Pakistan and Ireland in the 2007 Cricket World Cup.

Yep, Woolmer was rumored to be working on a document where he plans to expose the match-fixing that took place when his Pakistan cricket national team lost to Ireland that ultimately eliminated them from the tournament. Understandably, people involved in the alleged match-fixing scandal couldn't afford to have Woolmer's words out in the open, leading us to where we are now.

Of course, the entire Ireland cricket national team is not happy about these developments. Ireland team captain Trent Johnston has already dismissed the idea that their win over 2007 Cricket World Cup powerhouse Pakistan was fixed.

''We keep hearing things about match-fixing,'' said Johnston, who felt the rumors demeaned Ireland's display. ''You only have to look at that game and the way we bowled and fielded and I was just hugely proud of the guys.''

Johnston adds, ''All the rumors about the match have probably taken the shine off it a little for us, but this is the first day it's really sunk in that we're here and we're pinching ourselves a bit.''

''It is a tragedy what happened to Bob and it has taken away a little of the excitement, but we've had to move on.''

In other words, SCREW WOOLMER, WE'RE IN THE 2007 CRICKET WORLD CUP SUPER 8!

Jamaican police investigating the Bob Woolmer murder case dismissed some media reports that claim suspects on Woolmer's killer have been identified. Deputy police commissioner Mark Shields hit out at ''totally wrong'' reports and said speculation was unhelpful. He said police were ''nowhere near'' naming names and emphasized that the probe was likely to take a long time.

Former NBA Star suspended for Anti-Semitic Slurs

Remember former NBA All-Star Michael Ray Richardson? Well I don't.

Anyway, in case you do, the former NBA Basketball superstar, now coaching for the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), was suspended after making anti-Semitic slurs in a time when former NBA stars start proclaiming they're either gay or hate gay people.

Michael Ray Richardson, head coach of the Albany Patroons, was suspended by the team for the rest of the CBA Championship series for the anti-Semitic comments he made to the Albany Times Union.

He was talking about the contract general manager Jim Coyne was offering to him for Richardson to coach the GM's team in both the CBA and the USBL when he made the controversial comments.

''I've got big-time lawyers,'' Richardson said, according to the Times Union. ''I've got big-time Jew lawyers.''

The Albany Times Union then told the coach that by him saying that, he might offend some people because it plays the stereotype that Jews are crafty and shrewd. So what did Michael Ray Richardson say?

''Are you kidding me? They are. They've got the best security system in the world. Have you ever been to an airport in Tel Aviv? They're real crafty. Listen, they are hated all over the world, so they've got to be crafty.''

And yeah, Mr. Richardson wasn't done, ''They got a lot of power in this world, you know what I mean? Which I think is great. I don't think there's nothing wrong with it. If you look in most professional sports, they're run by Jewish people. If you look at a lot of most successful corporations and stuff, more businesses, they're run by Jewish. It's not a knock, but they are some crafty people."

Yup, and this was not the only time Michael Ray Richardson made controversial remarks. In one CBA game, Richardson told a fan who heckled him early in the game, ''Shut the [expletive] up.'' And near game's end, he shouted at another heckler, ''Shut the [expletive] up, you [derogatory term for gay men].''

Houston Texans Ask Schaub for Help

So much for replacing Michael Vick as the starting QB in Atlanta eh?

Yep, former Atlanta Falcons backup QB Matt Schaub was traded to the Houston Texans. Which means the Texans have already given up on their very first pick back when the Texans was an expansion team, David Carr.

And yeah, Matt Schaub was immediately named the Houston Texas starting QB, giving him the opportunity to show the Falcons just what kind of player they decided to let go.

''Matt is our starting quarterback and we're trying to help David find another place,'' Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith said, referring to his former QB, David Carr. Carr has not been a success story in Houston, and after watching him get sack time and time again as the Texans' quarterback, THAT could very well be an understatement.

''We're trying to trade him in the next couple of days. We feel good about the prospects; David is obviously a talented football player and has value, and I think that value is recognized over the league. So I don't think we'll have a problem with that and I think he will be excited about a new opportunity, and we're hopeful that he will continue have an NFL career and be successful.''

Blah blah blah... Yep, what Mr. Smith is really saying is they're glad they finally got rid of this joke named David.

As for Matt Schaub? Of course, he's excited to be finally starting for an NFL Football team. I guess the Atlanta Falcons will stick with the inconsistent Michael Vick for the long haul now.

''I'm excited for this opportunity to be a part of this franchise and this football team, Matt Schaub said. ''I had the opportunity to share a round of golf with coach (Gary) Kubiak and we hit it off really well. I understand the offense a considerable amount and I've been able to run it now for six years so I'm excited to get in there and learn even more about football and about this system and about this team.''

The question is, can Matt LEARN how to win some football games for the Houston Texans?

Pakistan Cricket head coach Bob Woolmer was murdered during the 2007 Cricket World Cup

Yep, Pakistan head coach Bob Woolmer was murdered and an arrest has been made by the Jamaican police.

Wow, makes you think what kind of tournament is going on at the 2007 Cricket World Cup eh? Chief of Geo TV Hamid Mir, speaking to Ndtv, stated the killer is not a Jamaican national and that police have confiscated his telephone. It was also reported that Woolmer was working on his autobiography at the time and it is reported some pages are missing.

Bob Woolmer, 48, was found unconscious by staff at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston the day after Pakistan's shock defeat to Ireland in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Woolmer was taken to hospital where he later died.

Police revealed that they were treating the former England batsman's death as ''suspicious.'' He had been found in his room with vomit and blood spattered around the walls.

Understandably, the entire country of Pakistan is saddened and worried after the murder news.

''Tragic, yes, worrying yes, because we have a member of our team, a national coach of Pakistan, who has been murdered and this is not something which can be taken lightly,'' Pakistan cricket team spokesman Pervez Mir said at their Ritz Carlton hotel base in Montego Bay.

''If a man dies of natural causes, that's life, that's nature,'' Mir added.

''But when somebody is murdered as we now know from the police this is very alarming and very worrying. It's a very, very scary situation for us, when you hear something like this and a member of our team has been targeted.''

''We don't know what's behind the murder. We have to get to the bottom of this. The loss we have suffered has to be investigated and the culprits have to be brought to justice.''

Everybody wants Texas Longhorns star Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant has already taken his exit from this March Madness thing and yet EVERYBODY is still gunning for him.

Yep, Kevin Durant, the same guy who led the Texas Longhorns as far as round 2 of the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament, is still hot commodity even after being booted out by the USC Trojans.

Of course, you already heard about the Boston Celtics getting their miserable asses fined $30,000 for excessive contact with the family of Texas Longhorns freshman sensation Kevin Durant. Well for those of you who haven't...

Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge sat next to Durant's mother during the recently held Big 12 tournament. The NBA said Ainge violated rules demanding that contact be kept to a minimum between team executives and potential NBA draft picks, until college players officially declare for the draft.

Since Kevin Durant has not declared for the NBA draft yet, talking to the guy or his family is a big NO-NO. Of course, you can't blame the Celtics for having this somewhat, ''illegal initiative'' with the fucked-up season they are having.

Guess what, it's not only Boston who wants the Texas freshman.

There are rumors that Kobe Bryant has contacted Kevin Durant in behalf of Nike. The word is, Kobe Bryant called the Texas Longhorns freshman to talk about a shoe deal ranging from $30 million to $50 million.

Hmm... Talk about the million dollar man eh? Or in this case, the million dollar Longhorn.

Of course, Kobe Bryant denies it, saying, ''It's complete B.S. I don't know him, I've never spoken to him, I've never seen him. Obviously he's a phenomenal talent, from watching him on TV a couple times, but I don't know him at all. So I don't know where they got that story from or that idea from. They might want to start checking their facts.''

Oh really now?

The New York Knicks can't get Eddy Curry his balls

seth-edward-oneal.jpgGetting the basketball to an almost seven-foot giant should be easy.

Not to the struggling New York Knicks though. Yes, apparently, the New York Knicks are struggling to dump the basketball to their big man, Eddy Curry, the same man who raised his game to another level this 2007 NBA Basketball season.

Although it has been the key for the New York Knicks to winning some games this troubled season, Knicks head coach Isaiah Thomas find himself still screaming at his players to get Eddy Curry the ball in the post.

All season long the Knicks have worked to mold their offense around the improving Eddy Curry, their 24-year-old center. At the Knicks' practice facility, Isaiah Thomas did not criticize Curry for complaining and said he spent much of the team's practice drilling his players on more effective ways of getting him the ball.

Thomas said Curry was not the only one who was disappointed the lack of touches. ''The coach is not happy either if he is not getting it,'' he said. (Hmm... Sounds like giant ball hogs like Shaquille O'Neal will have a grand time playing for a coach like Thomas eh?)

The New York Knicks are 7-11 when Curry takes 10 shots or fewer.

''A lot of good things happen when he gets the basketball,'' Isaiah Thomas said. ''He helps us with our transition defense because we know where his shots are coming from. When we don't have the ball in his hands a lot, you are playing the long range bomber game.''

The Knicks' best guard at getting the ball to Curry was Jamal Crawford. But Crawford's season ended on Feb.27 when he found out he needed surgery on his right ankle. Steve Francis, whose return to the court coincided with Crawford's departure, has taken over the responsibility of passing the ball to Curry.

Good luck with that one considering Steve Francis' love for the basketball throughout his career in the NBA.

Can Eddy Curry lead the New York Knicks to the NBA Playoffs? Who will win the 2007 NBA Championship? Here are some odds from Bodog:

Will Belgium murder Cristiano Ronaldo on Saturday?

''We will attack Ronaldo so much that he will have to leave the pitch on a stretcher.''

Yep, those were the comments Belgium ''allegedly'' made coming to their Euro 2008 qualifier match against Portugal on Saturday. They hate everything about Cristiano Ronaldo and it looks it won't change anytime soon.

You see, Cristiano Ronaldo has been making a lot of enemies lately after that game-winning penalty kick that sent Manchester United over Middlesbrough to qualify for the 2007 FA Cup Semi Finals against Watford.

Apparently, some people thought Cristiano Ronaldo fell to the ground too easily to get the official's attention and kick the penalty shot that gave Man-U the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Yep, people are now calling the Manchester United superstar two things, a cheat and a goddamn diver.

Well, the Portugese FA made an official complaint to UEFA after learning about the threats to their young Portugese icon. A representative of UEFA said, ''We will look into the alleged comments and ask the Belgian FA for their comments on the matter before we decide whether to open disciplinary proceedings.''

Belgium keeper Stijn Stijnen was apparently the one accused of making the horrible (and somewhat funny...) threats. Stijnen, who plays for the FC Bruges, was quoted in the Gazet Van Antwerpen as saying, ''After two minutes we will have to attack Ronaldo so much that he will have to leave the pitch.''

Of course, after learning that he'll probably get fucked up by his own comments, he starts to deny it. For what it's worth, Belgium has no plans of dropping the controversial Stijn Stijnen from the team for Saturday's Group A 2008 Euro qualifier.

He he... Now we can STILL see just how Cristiano Ronaldo is murdered on the field. Of course I'm still rooting for Manchester United to get to the 2007 FA Cup Finals but of course, watching Ronaldo leave the field on a stretcher will be nice. He he... I don't know, I'm confused...

Here are some stories from the March Madness Bracket that the rest of NCAA Basketball witnessed

So the 2007 March Madness bracket battles are finally here. Now what?

The March Madness bracket tournament has been around for quite some time now and for those of you new to this annual spectacle of NCAA College Basketball, George Mason's improbable march in last year's bracket battles is perhaps the single-most significant event you'll remember.

Aside from George Mason's Cinderella season last year, there are quite a handful of feel-good stories the March Madness bracket brought to the table. And no, the way Tyler Hansbrough of the North Carolina Tar Heels cried like a bitch after getting popped in the nose is not one of those.

In 1983, watching Jimmy Valvano celebrate after his North Carolina State Wolfpack shock Houston was something. Sidney Lowe led the Wolfpack, letting Valvano parade around the hardwood in a strange gay-like hugging mood. Yep, it was special and somewhat scary at the same time too.

Sidney Lowe is the current mentor of the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

In 1985, the Kansas Jayhawks, the same basketball program included in the ''big four'' of the 2007 March Madness bracket battles, proved just how much the crowd can play in the outcome of a basketball game. Hell, they proved just how much the crowd can motivate them towards a title.

Or in this case, prove just how much a crowd in an NCAA College Basketball game piss a team off so hard, that they'll play twice as hard just to get back at the crowd.

Larry Brown's Kansas Jayhawks were 12-8 at one point and heard chants of ''NIT, NIT.'' However, Danny Manning must not have been listening as he put the Jayhawks on his back and led them to the title. Yep, the Jayhawks sure have a lot of them success stories already before making it to the 2007 March Madness bracket battles.

Hey, have anyone of you know what Danny Manning has been up to lately?

Jonathan Papelbon will close for the Boston Red Sox

Yes, Jonathan Papelbon will be doing all that again.

After months and months of speculation about whether Jonathan Papelbon can return to the Boston Red Sox rotation, Red Sox general manager Terry Francona just announced that his 26-year-old pitcher will have his old job back after receiving the medical clearance that lets him do just that.

Jonathan Papelbon suffered a subluxation, a term used to describe a slippage within the joint, (OUCH!) last Sept.1. He went through a shoulder-strengthening program in the offseason and now, he will be suiting up for the Red Sox as the team's closer again in the coming 2007 MLB Baseball season.

Papelbon, who was charged with a blown save in the 4-4 tie against the Philadelphia Phillies at Brighthouse Field after allowing one run in three innings, said that he approached Francona prior to the game to make the request to return to closing. His manager was only too happy to accommodate.

''This is something I want to do for the rest of my career. Hopefully, what (Mariano) Rivera did for the Yankees, I can do for the Red Sox,'' Jonathan Papelbon said. Papelbon went 4-2 with 35 saves and scored a 0.92 ERA in 59 appearances while pitching for the Boston Red Sox last season.

Papelbon has been asking for this one since coming back from the injury. He said, ''I hadn't been sleeping well all spring because I had this feeling that I wanted to close. In my heart, I had feelings for being a closer.''

''This kid will be checked and monitored,'' Francona said. ''There's going to be days I'm going to tell him he's not going to pitch and he's going to do his strength and conditioning program. The other manager won't know and (the media) won't know but he will.''

Okay, so how do you expect us to bet on MLB games the Red Sox play now?

Sweep Shots always win in 2007 Cricket World Cup

seth-edward-oneal.jpgAs the 2007 Cricket World Cup heats up, let's take a look how these 2007 Cricket World Cup teams win these games.

Of course, they win games by scoring more than their rivals. DUH... And yes, in cricket, they score just like the way the New York Yankees do in MLB Baseball games. They hit the ball with a bat. But how do you do it effectively? How do you successfully hit a ball in a complicated game like cricket?

They call it the Sweep Shot, or, the Sweep, for short. The Sweep has become the favorite shot against the spinners (pitchers in baseball...) especially by cricket sluggers.

The Sweep is a cross-batted shot played to a delivery on or around leg stump behind square on the leg side. There's an element of risk when you play the shot as it requires plenty of confidence to execute properly.

To execute a perfect sweep shot, you have to lean towards the line of the ball with head and front shoulder. Place the front pad into the line of the ball and then bend the front leg while collapsing the back leg.

With your head over the front knee, bring the bat down and across from a high backswing. Strike the ball in front of the pad with the arms outstretched and both shoulders facing directly down the pitch. Roll the wrists on contact to keep the ball down.

Follow through so that the bat finishes in a high position with the hands close to the front shoulder.

In case you want to be a cricket player some day and play in the Cricket World Cup, feel free to try this. Then again, who would want to do that?

Nets to Salvage NBA Season against Clippers Sunday?

Inconsistent. That's what the New Jersey Nets have been this season.

Despite having players like Vince Carter and Jason Kidd, the New Jersey Nets can't seem to win enough basketball games to pull them above the .500 mark. Since those championship Nets teams led by Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson, this franchise can't seem to find the right mix to get back on top of the NBA food chain.

This 2007 NBA Basketball season has been a tumultuous one too. Hell, they ALMOST lost both Jason Kidd and Vince Carter during last month's NBA trading deadline. Yep, they were THAT close from throwing in the towel. Luckily, they came to their senses at the right time.

Richard Jefferson, the key to all those New Jersey Nets championship teams, was injured most of the time for New Jersey this season. Although RJ is not a Jason Kidd or a Vince Carter yet, the Nets believe that they need him, BADLY, to win. Although that's not entirely true... (I believe so anyway...)

As the New Jersey Nets enter the stretch run, they believe that their fate could rest with one returning star, Richard Jefferson, both for his play and his swagger. Of course, these guys have Vince fucking Carter for crying out loud but I guess they just love Richard Jefferson THAT much eh?

During an unexpectedly rocky season for the Nets, Jefferson, the small forward who has described himself as insanely optimistic in the past, showed that he was willing to believe in a team that has had difficulty believing in itself this season.

Last year, the New Jersey Nets did manage to salvage what's left of an also troublesome season, winning 15 of their final 19 games to make the NBA Playoffs. And guess what, Richard Jefferson was plagued with injuries during that season too, something that's becoming a scary trend in New Jersey these days.

On Sunday, the New Jersey Nets will try to do the same, SALVAGE WHAT'S LEFT OF THEIR SEASON as they host the Los Angeles Clippers in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Perhaps the timing for this game is perfect with the Clips losing their last five games.

The scary thing here is, the Clippers just might start something too and it's a possibility that they're looking at New Jersey to do just that.

Can Richard Jefferson lead the New Jersey Nets to the NBA Playoffs? Who will win the 2007 NBA Championship? Here are some odds from Bodog:

Alex Rodriguez MLB career, up to the NY Yankees fans

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYep, Alex Rodriguez is giving the New York Yankees fans the power.

The answer to the question on whether Alex Rodriguez stays with the New York Yankees for the 2007 MLB Baseball season or not depends on the Yankee faithful. Apparently, the guy just about had it with all the controversies surrounding him and the pinstriped MLB Baseball team so he just simply leaves it all to the fans.

''It's a do or die situation,'' he said on WFAN-AM's 'Mike and the Mad Dog' show. ''Either New York is going to kick me out of New York this year, say 'I've had enough of this guy, get him the hell out of here,' and we have an option. Or New York is going to say, 'Hey, we won a world championship, you had a big year, you were a part of it and we want you back,''' Alex Rodriguez said.

Alex Rodriguez revealed that he came up with this resolution after being bombarded with a flurry of interviews, describing it as ''an absolute dogfight for 15 minutes.'' Yep, and you can just imagine the pressure A-Rod is having with the 2007 MLB Baseball season STILL a few days away.

''You're asking me what my sincere feeling is. I want to 100 percent stay in New York. Period. That's it. I don't know how many ways I can say it,'' he adds.

Alex Rodriguez was loved by the New York Yankees fans, especially during his MVP year of 2005. After having his relationship with Yankees demi-god Derek Jeter tarnished, the Yankees all of sudden started turning on him.

''In 2005, riding the wave of the fans was an unbelievable experience. Sometimes, you come out a little tired, but the fans get behind you, chanting 'MVP!' and before you know it, you have two home runs and five RBIs.''

''When you try to fight that wave of the fans being negative, expecting you to do things and you're playing pretty lousy on top of it, then you try to do a little more than you have to.''

''The next time we're going to talk about this is hopefully in very late October,'' Alex Rodriguez said. ''I want to be here. I want to stay here.''

Will Alex Rodriguez stay with the New York Yankees? Who will win the 2007 MLB World Series Championship? Bodog has the odds.

Mom, Scot Pollard wants me to do drugs...

He he... Apparently, Cleveland Cavaliers big man Scot Pollard wasn't thinking.

Well, he NEVER did anyway after all those stupid hairstyles the retarded moron had throughout his pathetic career in the NBA. Now, as if that wasn't enough, he did one more mistake. He actually told the kids to do drugs on national TV.

He he... Yep, you read it. Scot Pollard, probably seeking desperately for attention, looked into the camera during a Cleveland Cavaliers game on national TV and said, ''Hey kids, do drugs.''

The guy sure knows how to fuck up his career even further eh? Scot Pollard, formerly of the Sacramento Kings and many other NBA Basketball teams that I don't care to remember, was sitting on the bench (like he usually does the past few years anyway...) during a 20-second timeout.

Probably bored like hell, he asked the kids to do drugs thinking it was funny as hell. Unfortunately for him, the rest of the Cavaliers didn't find it funny at all.

''We have spoken with Scot and certainly do not condone his actions,'' Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry said in a statement.

''He regrets his mistake, using inappropriate humor, particularly when he has always been very involved in the community, projecting positive messages to our youth. We will handle the issue internally.''

Tell me Danny boy, how in the hell does that make him project a positive message?

''It was a bad joke,'' Scot Pollard said.

Well DUH...

''That's all it boils down to. There are a number of things people could say about it, but it just turned out it was a bad joke. Obviously, I don't believe that.''

Apparently, what Scot Pollard believes in is the idea that there's a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow and a tiny leprechaun telling him to pose for Playboy.

Can the dummy Scot Pollard help the Cleveland Cavaliers advance to the NBA Playoffs? Who will win the 2007 NBA Championship? Here are some odds from Bodog:
