How Roger Clemens returned to the New York Yankees
Probably to save the Yankees from what has been a disastrous start to the new MLB season, they brought the Rocket back.
The New York Yankees, in a lack of a better term... SUCK in these early stages of the 2007-08 MLB Baseball season. Yeah, sure, they probably have the hottest guy at bat right now in Alex Rodriguez but MLB baseball doesn't give you wins for homeruns, OBVIOUSLY.
Of course, the New York Yankees know that and they know too that they have to do something soon to salvage their year. And perhaps in a desperate attempt to do just that, they're getting this old fart back, Roger Clemens.
The familiar voice of public-address announcer Bob Sheppard was heard during the seventh-inning stretch of a New York Yankees baseball game. Sheppard announced that indeed ''The Rocket'' Roger Clemens will be playing for the New York Yankees again in a few weeks. Of course, the crowd in Yankee stadium rejoiced.
And mind you, this was the same crowd who called Clemens an ''ASS-tro'' when he decided to leave the Bronx for the Houston Astros. Go figure.
With microphone in hand, Roger Clemens personally announced his return to New York. ''Well, they came and got me out of Texas and I can tell you it's a privilege to be back,'' Roger Clemens said. ''I'll be talking to y'all soon.''
With his brief address, shown on the right-center field video board to 52,553 fans and many more watching on television, the Rocket rejoined the Yankees in most dramatic fashion to help New York in their somewhat ridiculous campaign to the 2007 MLB Baseball season.
''Roger Clemens is a winner and a champion, and he is someone who can be counted on to help make this season one that all Yankees fans can be proud of,'' team owner George Steinbrenner said in a statement.
Steinbrenner adds, ''The sole mission of this organization is to win a world championship.'' He he... Well Mr. Steinbrenner, ya'll are STILL a long way from there.
Can the New York Yankees win the 2007 MLB World Series? Who will win the 2007 MLB World Series Championship? Bodog has the odds.
New York Yankees 7/2
