2007 NCAA College Football Week 9 Betting Picks

Apparently, it's not only the NFL that has teams still in pursuit of perfection.

But then again, the ranking system in the 2007 NCAA college football season is so fucked up, teams have no choice but to just try win all their games. Lose one and they'll see their hopes of playing for the BCS national title fade faster than Kobe Bryant's wicked jumper.

This year in college football, the Ohio State Buckeyes (go Buckeyes!) sit on top of the food chain with an undefeated record of 8-0 while the Arizona State Sun Devils (of all teams...) and the Kansas City Jayhawks are still climbing with their respective perfect seasons still intact. Who will remain undefeated this Week 9 of the college football season? Of course, we just have to start with the No.1 team of the nation, the Buckeyes from Ohio State.

While Greg Oden is postponing his anticipated dominance in the 2007-08 NBA basketball season, the Ohio State Buckeyes are not postponing anything this season. They're that eager to return to the BCS national championship game after the Florida Gators shocked them last time they were there.

The Buckeyes visit the Penn State Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium Saturday and with a ridiculously powerful Buckeye defense ready to rock University Park, I'm not expecting the Lions to be shocking anyone come game time.

Hell, the Ohio State Buckeyes are coming into this game with an undefeated regular season streak of more than two goddamn years. It has been that crazy folks. For 26 straight regular season games, these Buckeyes simply dominated their rivals, with their last loss on October 8, 2005.

To whom did these Buckeyes lost to? Ironically, it's to these Nittany Lions, 17-10, at the very stadium they'll be visiting this weekend. Sure, one could say, 'hey, Penn State just might do it again this season!' The only question is, would you bet on that? I won't.

The Arizona State Sun Devils, after the mad shuffle of teams in the BCS rankings, found themselves sitting at No.4 for the nation's best teams. They'll be taking on the California Golden Bears, a team that were just like them a few weeks back, surprised to be ranked in the upper echelons of college football.

Well, since then, the California Golden Bears lost two straight games, dropping to their lowest ranking this season while the Sun Devils have climbed to their highest in 11 long years. I don't know about you but I have a feeling Cali will bring them down back to reality as well this Saturday.

Hell, these Sun Devils were just fortunate enough to play pathetic teams with a combined record of a dismal 4-13. And as much trouble Cali had the past couple of weeks they will still be coming in their game against the Sun Devils as the first ranked team Arizona State would be facing all season. Expect Cali to win.

Last but certainly not the least, the Kansas City Jayhawks will be playing the Texas A&M Aggies at Kyle Field in Texas. Sure, these Jayhawks may have posted two key road victories on their way to their best start in 12 years.

However, on Saturday, they'd be facing one of the best Texas teams in college football today and I reckon the Kansas City Jayhawks would be ending their pursuit of perfection this season. Heck, these guys haven't won a single game at Kyle Field after four tries. It will be their fifth this Saturday and with them looking to have a commanding 8-0 mark since 1909, expect them to crumble under the pressure.
