Lawyer Ron, 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic Favorite
Yep, this time, it's Lawyer Ron, the heavy favorite to win this year's Breeders' Cup main event.
This year's Breeders' Cup betting extravaganza culminates with the 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic and from all the favorites to win the main race, Lawyer Ron tops 'em all, beating Kentucky Derby champ Street Sense and Preakness winner Curlin.
A runaway winner in the Whitney Handicap and the Woodward Stakes, Lawyer Ron comes to the 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic as the main pick to win and bring in the most amount of dough.
One oddsmaker at Monmouth Park, Brad Thomas, is not surprised. ''Lawyer Ron was made the favorite because of his consistent excellence in his last three races. It was very difficult to separate the first three horses,'' Thomas said referring to Lawyer Ron, Street Sense and Curlin.
Monmouth Park's Breeders' Cup wagering warfare this Saturday will be a nine-horse field with Lawyer Ron a 5-2 bet to win it followed by Street Sense and Curlin, both picked with 3-1 odds.
Any Given Saturday follows the top three with only 4-1 odds of winning the Classic despite winning three straight races, including the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth. Hard Spun on the other hand, was a mere shell of it's former ''predetermined form'' after the Triple Crown series with only 8-1 odds to beat the rest of the field.
Speaking of the rest of the field, Tiago has 12-1 odds, Diamond Stripes has 15-1, George Washington has 20-1 and finally, Awesome Gem is the longshot with 30-1 odds of winning the Classic main event.
Street Sense will be coming out of the No.2 post while Lawyer Ron, to be ridden by none other than John Velasquez, will be leaving from the rail. Hard Spun drew No.8 and is expected to set the pace with the Classic's heavy favorite.
Who will win the 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic? Bodog has the odds.

Street Sense 3/1
Curlin 3/1
George Washington (IRE) 10/1
