2007-08 NFL Football Week 8 Betting Picks
Let's stop looking at the undefeated Patriots and Colts for a while.
While the Patriots and the Colts each have their respective undefeated seasons still intact, we come into Week 8 of the 2007-08 NFL football season still with two teams with no wins whatsoever.
Yes, the St. Louis Rams and the Miami Dolphins welcome the eight week of football still looking for their first win of the season. Funny huh? While the Pats and the Colts simply continue to dominate on that football field, these two teams continue to let the rest of the league gang-rape them over and over again.
For the St. Louis Rams, they have the surprising Cleveland Browns visiting Edward Jones Dome, this Sunday. If this was two years ago, I'd probably say the Rams will simply trash the Browns. But it's 2007 and this year, the Rams suck. Simple as that.
For what it's worth, the Rams will probably be having their star running back, Steven Jackson back. However, they'd be facing a red hot Cleveland Browns team that finally found something that works. That my friend is third-year quarterback Derek Anderson.
The first time we saw Anderson, he was looking quite good in what already was a lost season last year in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now that he is patrolling the Cleveland Browns offense full-time, all of a sudden, they found themselves competing for the AFC North title with Pittsburgh and the Baltimore Ravens.
Derek Anderson ranks No.12 among the top quarterbacks in the league today. Behind only to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer and in front of, get this, Seattle Seahawks leader Matt Hasselbeck. Yes, that's how good Anderson is this season and expect the Browns to give the Rams their eight loss of the season. Ouch.
Cleveland Browns to win -3.5 over the struggling St. Louis Rams.
Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins travel to Wembley Stadium in London to face the red-hot New York Giants. Eli Manning was able to lead his Giants to win five straight contests and I expect them to win their sixth straight against the struggling Dolphin defense.
How can I tell for sure? Well, with the Miami Dolphins facing a monster defender like Michael Strahan without their star running back, Ronnie Brown, who is out for the rest of their pathetic season, no one in the Miami Dolphins roster would be able to score against New York.
Oh yeah, did I mention that Dolphins QB Trent Green is now contemplating on retirement after getting yet another concussion? Jeez... Expect the Giants to win -6.5 over pathetic Miami.
Although I told ya'll that we'd be keeping our eyes away from undefeated teams this week, I can't. For one, it's Sunday Night Football, and two, it's the New England Patriots playing. Yep, mighty New England will host the Washington Redskins in what many are saying is a 'trap game' for the Patriots before their epic clash with the Indianapolis Colts on Week 9.
Trap game? I don't think so. In what should be a one-sided affair, the Patriots should have no problems dropping all these touchdowns against the Redskin defense. And with Tom Brady dropping six touchdowns last week, we're probably in for an encore performance.
Pick the Patriots to beat the Washington Redskins -13.5 on Sunday night.
As always, here's the rest of them picks for Week 8.

Indianapolis Colts over the Carolina Panthers -6.5
Tennessee Titans over the Oakland Raiders -6.5
