Discreet Cat, preparing for 2007 Breeders' Cup discreetly
Yes, the 2007 Breeders' Cup is merely a few more weeks away.
And I guess if you just don't give a damn about the coming 2007 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, (like yours truly...) then October 26 and 27 will mean nothing more to you but Week 8 of the 2007-08 NFL football season.
For the rest of you who'll just bet on anything for the sake of making a wager, then I guess the 2007 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships is just one of them sporting events you'll certainly be preparing for.
One horse preparing for the coming Breeders' Cup is Discreet Cat.
The four-year-old colt is reported to be back to form after recovering from a throat abscess that virtually cost him the Dubai World Cup at Nad Al Sheba. (Hell, if throat injuries won't get you, surely, the Moslem terrorists there will...)
Discreet Cat's loss in the Dubai World Cup is the colt's first loss in seven starts. Now, it seems the colt and its people (yes, horses have an entourage in horse racing...) are ready to put the Dubai World Cup behind them and get ready for the coming 2007 Breeders' Cup.
''We gave him plenty of time after the World Cup. He's doing well and he's back in training,'' trainer Saeed bin Suroor said. ''He looks happier now with age. He is stronger physically and mentally. The plan is to run him on September 30 in a six-furlong race at Belmont.''
''He has always shown plenty of speed, but when he is settled and relaxed you can take him to a mile and further. He has the three options in the Breeders' Cup, but we will see how he runs first. I am really happy with him and he has been finishing his work well.''
Who will win the 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic? Bodog has the odds.
