Can the Little Giants of the NFL be BIG for New York?
If you're familiar with that movie a few years back about some kids calling themselves the ''little Giants,'' Eli's team is exactly that.
With a name like the New York Giants, this ''other'' pro football team in NYC is anything BUT a giant. Heck, these guys SUCK so bad last year that people are already expecting them to fail even before they start the 2007-08 NFL football season.
Bad huh? Well, for what it's worth, at least there's one guy who is giving the New York Giants one more chance and that's defensive end Michael Strahan. Strahan finally ended his five-week long holdout that may have cost him more than $500,000 in fines.
After not playing the entire four-game preseason, it definitely looks like the 35-year-old Michael Strahan is ready to play the 2007-08 NFL football season now despite flirting with retirement a few months ago.
The New York Giants would need him too, with the way their young quarterback, Eli Manning, has played so far with the team for the past few years.
''Obviously, we are glad that Michael is back, that he wants to be back and that he wants to continue his playing career,'' New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese said. ''As I have stated several times since the beginning of training camp, Michael Strahan is a Hall of Fame player and we are a stronger team with him.''
The New York Giants will kick off their brand new 2007-08 NFL football season against their rivals Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium on Sunday Night Football and if Michael Strahan, Eli Manning and the rest of the Little Giants from New York can pull it off this season, we'll probably get a better idea how on prime time Sunday.
