A comeback for Priest Holmes in 2007-08 NFL Season?

Yep, you read it, Kansas City Chiefs running back Priest Holmes wants to play football again.

The last time people saw or even heard about Priest Holmes, the Kansas City Chiefs running back was sitting at the bleachers of some football game in San Antonio, Texas, signing some autographs while sounding like he's done with football for good.

Now, we see Priest Holmes running around an empty practice field, trying to make what he's calling the biggest comeback of an injury-riddled career. Obviously, Mr. Holmes hasn't heard about Grant Hill but hey, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

''Anyone who knows anything about me, revelations and signs and believing in Christ, those are definitely some things I believe in,'' Priest Holmes said. ''I don't know why I had the dream. But I saw myself playing football.''

''After the dream, of course, comes the self doubts. 'You're too old. You can't do this. You've been off 22 months.' But I can tell you that whenever you have a vision and a purpose in mind and you can set an actual target, anything can be accomplished.''

Yep, coming back from injuries sure is not something new to Priest Holmes. The guy came back from knee and hip injuries to break Kansas City Chiefs records for career rushing yards, rushing for 5,933 and total touchdowns after slapping 83 footballs in the endzone.

''I'm sure it's the love of the game,'' Kansas City Chiefs president Carl Peterson said of Holmes' desire to come back. ''I can tell you it's not the money. Why doesn't somebody look up his contract? He's on a minimal contract.''

''He said to me, 'Carl, I think I can help this football team, both on and off the field, get a world championship. And that's what I'd like to do.' I said, 'Priest, I like your motives, I like you as a person, and I'm going to give you the opportunity to do it.' I think he knows, we know, everybody knows, he's been out a long time. But I'm going to give him that opportunity.''

Besides, he won't be carrying footballs that much for the Chiefs anyway with my boy, Larry Johnson around.

Who will be the favorites to win Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Arizona? Here are the odds from Bodog:
