Will we see a 2007 Tour De France Champion Sunday?

The final leg of the grueling 2007 Tour De France is this Sunday at Champs-Elysees.

Yep, a new champion will be crowned as the 2007 Tour De France concludes over the weekend. However, with the recent scandal that hit the sport a few days ago, can there really be a new champion in a sport that is currently clouded with a whole lot of controversies lately?

For all ya'll who missed it, 2007 Tour De France standings leader, Michael Rasmussen, was kicked out of the Tour by his own Rabobank team after the Danish cyclist reportedly violated one or two team rules. Apparently, Ras' has been missing more than a few random drug tests, intentionally or unintentionally, and his own team is sick of it.

Perhaps the only thing going for the 2007 Tour De France now is THINGS CAN GET A WHOLE LOT WORSE. Since the incomparable Lance Armstrong left the sport a couple of years ago, these Tour De France wars had nothing to show for but men on dope and men who plans to be on dope.

Lance Armstrong could very well be the one and only hero the sport of cycling will ever have. After all, the guy did win SEVEN straight Tour De France titles from 1999 to 2005, while battling cancer for crying out loud, and I don't see anyone in the sport today who can do just that.

Of course, the Tour let him stay on dope for his condition.

With Michael Rasmussen out, that leaves us with Alberto Contador as the odds-on favorite to win the 2007 Tour De France. Contador has been going toe-to-toe with Rasmussen before the doping scandal and now with his rival out, there should be no reason why he won't win this year's Tour De France title.

Of course, as if a curse tagged to any cyclist who is about to win these Tour De France wars aside of course from media darling Lance, people are already starting to question if Contador is on dope too.

''Contador's performance is suspicious, very suspicious,'' AG2R manager Vincent Lavenu said. ''But we can't say anything unless he's caught in a doping check. I don't trust this team. Maybe one day we'll know.''

It seems these guys just wanna' fuck-up the sport just a little bit more.
