Heard about the Joey Harrington Curse in NFL Football?

Yep, there's a new curse in the NFL these days and it doesn't involve an NFL video game.

Joey Harrington is quickly becoming a ''human insurance policy'' and coming to the brand new 2007-08 NFL football season, Harrington might find himself starting for his new team after doing the exact same thing with the Miami Dolphins last year.

You see, when Joey Harrington suited up for the Miami Dolphins last season, he was suppose to play backup to quarterback Daunte Culpepper. When Culpepper got injured, Harrington ended up starting for the Miami Dolphins for 11 games.

When the Atlanta Falcons signed Harrington in this year's offseason, he was suppose to play backup to Falcons franchise QB Michael Vick. But with the current dogfighting allegations thrown at Vick these days, Harrington just might end up on top of the pecking order yet again.

Is this now the new ''Joey Harrington curse?''

''I would be lying to say I don't think about it,'' Joey Harrington said. ''As a backup quarterback I have to be ready. As a backup quarterback, you have to be ready at all times.''

''It would be naive of me to say I'm completely oblivious to what's going on, but it doesn't change the way I would prepare for things. Whether these things were happening off the field or not, I still need to be prepared to play at any moment.''

For what it's worth, Joey Harrington claims he is ready to take over a team from a fallen leader this year than he was last time. Maybe because there is a possibility that Michael Vick won't even have the chance to suit up for the Atlanta Falcons in the coming 2007-08 NFL football season with the way these dogfighting charges have come the past few weeks.

''There's that old saying about 'once burned, twice shy,' right, but I'm not sure it quite applies,'' Joey Harrington said.

''I've been burned a little bit, and burned myself a few times, too, but it hasn't made me shy about wanting to get back into the fire again. That said, I think I've learned a lot about handling things in general, certainly about handling adversity. If they want me to get back up on the horse again, OK, let's go. You can't let it make you crazy.''
