David Beckham to beat Chelsea AND L.A. Galaxy Saturday
Because we all know that this Saturday's fixture between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Chelsea FC will be all about David Beckham.
Yep, this Saturday, July 21st, will be the debut of David Beckham playing for his new team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, as they face English giants Chelsea FC in an exhibition match, otherwise known in Europe as ''friendly.''
And it certainly looks like the Chelsea Blues will literally be ''friendly'' to David Beckham after agreeing to play second fiddle to the pop icon on Saturday. And to think that Chelsea FC is one of the most popular football clubs in all of international football. Hell, even their usually irritated coach agrees.
''It's a big moment for L.A. and also U.S. soccer,'' Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho said.
''They couldn't choose a better player to achieve what they want to achieve. In Europe, we want U.S. soccer to go up (in popularity). We are Chelsea and we have a responsibility. We want to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a big game to promote their new team.''
Or maybe what Mourinho REALLY meant was, ''I want to see Beckham's cute little butt wiggle and I'll be cheering for it too.''
David Beckham's arrival in the United States is as hot a topic as say... Britney Spears' next panty slip. Apparently, everybody is just going crazy over the guy that they're already coming up with a weekly magazine show dedicated entirely to David Beckham himself, dubbed ''David Beckham's Soccer USA.''
''David Beckham's arrival is a tremendous milestone in U.S. soccer history, and Fox Soccer Channel is intent on covering his impact on the game from every possible angle,'' said David Sternberg, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Soccer Channel.
''David Beckham's Soccer USA will provide an insider's look at his performance with the Los Angeles Galaxy, as well as complement Fox Soccer Channel's exclusive match coverage each week on MLS Saturday on FSC.''
