Who will win 2007 F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone?
Lewis Hamilton is going back home on Sunday but Ferrari has momentum.
Yep, McLaren Mercedes rookie driver Lewis Hamilton will be racing in front of his adoring home fans in Britain for the first time this 2007 F1 season and you can bet your ass he would stop at nothing for the win.
Lewis Hamilton, racing in a Formula One car in Britain for the very first time, must be feeling the pressure now, especially with Ferrari now back to form after their one-two finish at Magny-Cours, their first this year. Hamilton finished third for McLaren.
''You can't win every race, and the most important thing is to be consistent, which I think we are,'' Lewis Hamilton said after finishing third at Magny-Cours. ''Both the Ferrari drivers said they made a good step forward, but when you are behind people, as we were in Magny-Cours, it's a lot harder to show your true pace.''
''I don't think they were as quick, as much faster than us, as it looked today. Traffic and strategy had a lot to do with that, so I still think we can bounce back at Silverstone, without a doubt.''
The McLaren Mercedes rookie definitely welcomes the idea that he will be going back home in Britain leading the 2007 F1 drivers' championship standings.
''It is a great feeling to go to Silverstone as the World Championship leader. To do so certainly seemed unimaginable at the start of the season. I'm very, very happy with the job I've done and the team have done and I go into my first British GP with the team I always wanted to drive for, and that's one of the greatest feelings a driver can have.''
Of course, itching to follow up on their first one-two finish of the 2007 F1 season back at Magny-Cours, Ferrari is optimistic that they will be even faster in Britain, especially Kimi Raikkonen, who made his return at the top of the podium in France.
''We had a very good test here two weeks ago. If we manage to bring all the latest developments on the track, then I think that Ferrari will be even more competitive (in Britain) than in Magny-Cours,'' Kimi Raikkonen said.
