Will NBA Star Chauncey Billups sign with the Pistons?
Apparently, the reports claiming that Chauncey has agreed a five-year contract with the Pistons is untrue.
Yep, there were rumors that say Chauncey Billups signed a five-year contract with the Detroit Pistons worth $60 million coming to the brand new 2007-08 NBA season. Wishful thinking perhaps? He he... Chauncey, please forgive us Pistons fans for wanting you back so bad.
Andy Miller, agent of Chauncey Billups, called these rumors as simply untrue. Vicious even. And if Detroit Pistons fans like me think that the Pistons are on the verge of signing Mr. Big Shot, his agent thinks otherwise.
''This is a vicious rumor,'' Andy Miller, Billups' agent, said. ''It's entirely untrue. We have not reached an agreement. I don't know what stage we're at. We're having ongoing discussions, and I don't believe that we're on the verge of signing an agreement anytime today by any stretch of the imagination.''
''...I don't believe that we're on the verge of signing an agreement anytime today by any stretch of the imagination.'' Jeez... That statement can't get any clearer folks. If these sick fucks from Detroit fail to sign Chauncey Billups, they might as well start playing in Canada or something.
The Associated Press and some Detroit-area media outlets had reported that Chauncey Billups and the Detroit Pistons have agreed to a five-year contract.
According to the Associated Press, its source, who requested anonymity because of league rules preventing contract announcements before July 11, said the deal is worth $46 million guaranteed over four years and the fifth year is a team option.
For what it's worth, Joe Dumars, president of Detroit Pistons basketball operations, claim that signing Billups is his top priority. This is also the reason why he let Ben Wallace go to Chicago, to free up some salary cap space in preparation for this very day.
Can Joe Dumars come through? This is a very crucial series of days, especially if you're a Pistons fan.
