2007 Arena Football Divisional Playoffs begin

seth-edward-oneal.jpgIt's round two of the second best thing in American football playoffs these days and yep, I'm referring to Arena Football.

The 12 AFL playoff teams were narrowed down to eight and starting on Saturday, the final eight AFL teams will play in the 2007 Arena Football divisional playoffs for a spot in the final four.

The Colorado Crush and the San Jose Sabercats will kick things off in the divisional round of the 2007 AFL playoffs as they settle their differences in the American Conference side of the bracket.

The Colorado Crush surprised me last week, coming up a win over the Kansas City Brigade despite coming to that contest losers of FOUR STRAIGHT GAMES. Go figure. Colorado showed some resiliency against the Brigade yes, but coming to San Jose where the Sabercats have been waiting for them all week long, I would have to bet against Colorado yet again.

Besides, the San Jose Sabercats are just nasty at home.

Next, concluding Saturday's double-header playoff broadcast, the Columbus Destroyers will meet the ridiculously dominant Dallas Desperados team. The Desperados have a team of veterans looking to prove why they are the No.1 team in the AFL this season.

Yeah sure, the Columbus Destroyers are on a roll, shocking everybody when they got to the postseason and surprised everybody again after getting to the divisional round. But c'mon, the Desperados have only lost ONCE all season. Let's just put it this way, on Saturday, Columbus will get their asses DESTROYED by Dallas, no matter how DESPERATE they get come game time.

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Soul will visit the Georgia Force in what should be a very explosive playoff game. Unfortunately, the game's explosiveness on Sunday will all be thanks to the Georgia side after playing a consistent but explosive game all season long.

Yeah sure, we saw some signs of greatness from the Philadelphia Soul but I guess even those guys wanna' see a classic Dallas-Georgia encounter for the National Conference championship next week and I don't blame them.

On Monday, those Los Angeles Avengers will be playing for their second straight ''Monday Night Football'' game this week. THIS TIME though, they will be visiting the defending Arena Bowl XX champions, the Chicago Rush and I reckon not even Monday night's bright lights will help L.A. escape the Windy City with a trip to the American Conference championship game.

The Los Angeles Avengers pulled a fast one over the Utah Blaze last week but against the Rush, their silly little tricks won't work this time. Yeah sure, the Avengers can play at a high level on both sides of the ball but they will be facing a defending Arena Bowl world championship team from Chicago that focuses their game on consistency.

Besides, the Chicago Rush is the more experienced team on Monday and they are just too tough at home to let the Avengers pull off a fast one for the second straight week.

Who among these wild card entries will advance to the second round of the 2007 AFL football playoffs? AcesAce Sportsbook has the odds.
