What if Alex Rodriguez left the New York Yankees to own a pathetic team like the Chicago Cubs?
Can you imagine what that would do to a team who has now probably gotten used to losing?
That is the latest rumor going on right now in the 2007 MLB baseball season, New York Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez to leave the Bronx and play for the Chicago Cubs as a part owner next season.
If this rumor was ever true, this is probably the first time a player in a team actually OWNS the team. These are just mere speculations at this point but with the kind of season we've had so far, you never really know what happens for sure right?
There are reports that claim New York Yankees franchise player, Alex Rodriguez (see, I used the term FRANCHISE here to stress how big this guy is to the Yankees organization...) could end up playing for the Chicago Cubs next season in a deal that also includes part ownership of the team.
Alex Rodriguez can opt out of the last three years of his contract with the New York Yankees.
Also according to the report, Scott Boras, A-Rod's agent, already identified the leading candidate to buy the Chicago Cubs. Oh yes, they are finally selling this sorry excuse, godforsaken baseball team.
The report says that the deal could reach a whopping $30 million per year over 10 years.
Aside from the rumors going on with the Cubs and A-Rod, there are also rumors about Rodriguez playing for the Boston Red Sox next season. Now that's a sure way to hype up a rivalry even further right?
''Great players with great demand create great rumors,'' A-Rod's agent Scott Boras said. ''While I would enjoy having lunch with Mark Cuban and [John] Canning, at this point of the year that conversation would not include Alex Rodriguez. I have not talked to anyone.''
Who will win the 2007 MLB World Series Championship? Bodog has the odds.
New York Yankees 7/2
Boston Red Sox 9/1
Detroit Tigers 5/1
