Sooners and Longhorns resume Red River Rivalry Saturday

Yep, that's on Saturday people. Hopefully, it'll give us something to smile about before Manny Pacquiao irritates you and me again.

It's Week 6 of the 2007 NCAA college football season and heading for this Saturday's crop of games, we see some new teams on top of the infamous AP poll rankings.

The LSU Tigers are now our new No.1 team, dethroning the USC Trojans from... well... their throne. Teams like the California Golden Bears, the Wisconsin Badgers and the South Florida Bulls, all three who don't have any business whatsoever being in a prime BCS ranking position, were all voted in the top ten.

As for the teams we normally see on top, well, let's just say they have fallen under the radar lately.

Two of which are the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns. These two teams started their respective Big 12 campaigns with losses. The Longhorns lost to the Kansas State Wildcats while the Sooners were just edged by the Colorado Buffaloes, 27-24.

Yep, they do have this 'Red River Rivalry' going for them but perhaps what's more important for these two teams that'll be facing off this Saturday is to avoid starting their Big 12 campaign with a dismal 0-2 start.

This 'Red River Rivalry' thing PROBABLY came from the Red River that forms part of the boundary that separates Oklahoma and Texas. Oh yeah, the Texas Longhorns have dominated this thing so far, with an all-time record of 57-35-9.

These Longhorns will be going for a third straight win on Saturday despite the fact that both teams will be heading for their annual collision course coming off losses for the first time in eight years.

So who should you be betting on? Sure, Texas almost always gets the best of Oklahoma in this 'Red River Rivalry' thing but I have a feeling Sooners QB Sam Bradford will be able to torch these Texans after suffering his very first career defeat against the Buffaloes last Saturday.

Hell, the Longhorns QB, Colt McCoy is so banged up anyway after last week to throw anything over the Oklahoma defense on Saturday. Jeez... I mean, the guy's probably eating through a goddamn straw just about now.
