Tennis star Mardy Fish learned he's no NFL football player
Just when you though only NFL and NBA players do silly things, this happens.
As ya'll know by now, Mardy Fish is not playing in the 2007 French Open at Roland Garros. (Well, for those of you who dig tennis anyway...) And guess what, he missed the opportunity to play in the annual clay court tourney because of stupidity and... well... being ''not so smart.''
Mardy Fish, apparently, injured himself trying to kick a football for a field goal. Mardy Fish, along with some American teammates were in Germany for the World Team Cup and went to visit the Rhein Fire of the NFL Football Europe league when the incident happened.
The 31st-ranked American returned to the United States for treatment and the 2007 French Open at Roland Garros already went out of the silly American's itinerary.
''I don't know how severe it is,'' World Team Cup teammate James Blake said.
''He's hoping that it is just something where he is off his feet for four, five days and then he can start hitting lightly. If that's the case he will be ready for the grass,'' Blake adds, referring to the next big tournament after this annual war on clay, the 2007 Wimbledon Championships.
''It's really unfortunate,'' Blake adds.
''We all learn not to do silly things and to be more careful if we are going to do anything like that. But we also have to be human beings and live a life. We can't live in a shell or a bubble and only play tennis and never go out and do anything. It's a tough balance.''
It's easy Mr. Blake. Just always bear in mind that you guys are tennis players and NOT football stars. That's as simple as A-B-C.
