Falcon Michael Vick grounded because of dogfighting

seth-edward-oneal.jpgYep, that Atlanta Falcon hybrid between quarterback and running back just can't seem to fly with the rest of his Falcons lately.

And in case you didn't get it, we're talking about Michael Vick. Of course, if you're one of them huge NFL football fans, you've already heard about this story by now. Unless of course, you've been living under a rock lately.

Atlanta Falcons franchise quarterback Michael Vick, is being hounded by all these illegal dogfighting issues as of late. Authorities have been investigating illegal dogfighting activities at a property owned by the Atlanta Falcons QB and guess what, his ''wings'' are being cut off because of it.

AirTran, the very airline endorsed by the popular Atlanta Falcons superstar, has cut off their contract with the troubled NFL football quarterback. Yeah sure, Michael Vick can still fly AirTran, but now that AirTran won't be carrying his familiar ''Oz-like'' cornrows - goatee combination on their aircrafts, he would have to pay for fare.

''Michael's contract expired May 8 and we decided to go in another direction,'' said AirTran spokesman Tad Hutcheson. ''We still have lots of football endorsers like Warrick Dunn and Brian Finneran, and Peyton Manning endorses us in Indianapolis. Our football ads typically start in August, and we're assessing our needs at the moment.''

Vick had been a regular AirTran pitchman since 2004, but the series of off-the-field incidents have sullied his image.

And to make matters worse for Michael Vick, six informants have now emerged can link Vick to the illegal dogfighting allegations thrown at the NFL quarterback. Although it is not known if any of the informants provided information about dogfighting at the property Vick owns.

All of Vick's troubles started April 25 with a random police raid on an unrelated drug charge at the property. This prompted the current investigation after police found 66 dogs, mainly pit bulls, and materials allegedly related to dogfighting on the premises.

I say, now THAT is a tough break.
