What happened to our favorite NFL Football teams?

seth-edward-oneal.jpgJeez... In case you haven't heard about it yet, the New England Patriots are getting DESPERATE to win the Super Bowl.

Of course, with the deals they made in this offseason, the New England Patriots rank numero uno in this VERY EARLY NFL power rankings from yours truly. The Patriots were merely a minute away from the Super Bowl last year and coming to the brand new season, these guys want nothing less than a trip to Super Bowl XLII.

The Patriots will still have Tom Brady at QB (no surprises there...) but now, after a season of not knowing who he should throw the football to, he'll be having Randy Moss. Yep, the Oakland Raiders actually let him go, something I still can't understand.

The Super Bowl XLI champions, Indianapolis Colts, are right there behind them. Yeah, sure, they lost running back Dominic Rhodes, but c'mon, they still have the solid combination of Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison is STILL there PLUS Reggie Wayne hasn't even started yet.

At No.3, we have the somewhat troubled franchise of the San Diego Chargers. Before the 2006-07 NFL Playoffs began, many thought the Chargers is the team to beat after the ridiculous season that they had. Then, they had to face to Patriots in their first game of the postseason and then WHAM, they lose and everything shifts back to reality.

Marty Schottenheimer won't return to the Chargers sideline in the coming season but with reigning NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson coming back, the Chargers should still be one of the early contenders. (Besides, he did turn down the 2008 NFL Madden cover...)

At No.4 we have the defensive minded Baltimore Ravens. Defense has been the cornerstone of Baltimore football for years and coming to the brand new 2007-08 NFL Season, they're adding something new to their style of football.

RUNNING.

Yep, the Ravens signed former Buffalo Bills running back Willis McGahee and if this kid stays healthy for a change, McGahee will form one ridiculous running tandem with Jamal Lewis.

So that's it, those are your top NFL Football teams as we head closer to the brand new season. Unfortunately, the Super Bowl runner-up Chicago Bears didn't make it just because Lance Briggs is unhappy, Cedric Benson is still unproven and guess what, Rex Grossman is still Rex Grossman.

Who will be the favorites to win Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Arizona? Here are the odds from Bodog:

San Diego Chargers 6/1

New England Patriots 10/1

Chicago Bears 8/1

Indianapolis Colts 7/1
