Big Weekend for Real Madrid, Barcelona in Spanish La Liga

seth-edward-oneal.jpgReal Madrid could win the Spanish La Liga title, that is if they can beat Zaragoza and see Barcelona lose twice to Espanyol over the weekend.

Yep, it has all come to this eh? An exciting finish to the 2007 Spanish La Liga season between the two rival clubs definitely is nice, especially after Real's problems to start their football campaign.

As of press time, Real Madrid and Barcelona are tied atop the Spanish La Liga standings with 72 points apiece. Real has the edge over Barca on head-to-head results meaning, if the season ended today, Real Madrid will be your new 2007 Spanish La Liga champions.

That will give David Beckham his first major trophy for Real and end Barcelona's bid for a third-straight La Liga title. The only problem is, Real Madrid could be facing Zaragoza on Saturday without their popular English midfielder. (Yep, I'm talking about Beckham...)

David Beckham injured the internal lateral ligament in his left ankle during England's 3-0 win over Estonia last Wednesday in the 2008 European Championship qualifiers. Remember that it was this guy who piloted his Real Madrid team to win SIX STRAIGHT games since coming back from yet another injury that sidelined him for about a month.

For what it's worth, Beckham is STILL looking forward for this Saturday's HUGE game. Hell, the English man was already talking about his club's match with Zaragoza right after injuring his left ankle Wednesday night.

''I have really enjoyed the last couple of weeks. Now my head is on the game on Saturday,'' David Beckham said after setting up two of England's goals at Estonia. ''I twisted my ankle tonight and it was painful, but I'm sure it's fine.''

Probably evening things up will be the absence of Brazilian star Ronaldinho for Barcelona on Saturday. Ronaldinho was suspended for this Saturday's Spanish La Liga fixture after the red card he received in their 1-0 win over Getafe.

Who cares if we won't see Ronaldinho for FC Barcelona this weekend? He's an ugly fucker anyway...

Can David Beckham win his first major trophy for Real Madrid? Can Barcelona win their third-straight Spanish La Liga title? Bodog has the odds on the huge La Liga fixtures this Saturday.

Spanish La Liga Game ONE

FC Barcelona -500

Espanyol +1000

Spanish La Liga Game TWO
