What will happen on Saturday when Roger Clemens makes his return to the struggling New York Yankees?

On Saturday, Yankee fans could very well see ''the Rocket'' launch against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The question here is, can the New York Yankees win with Roger Clemens. A few days ago, the Rocket was not throwing... well... rockets. He threw a total of 62 pitches in a pitching workout to prepare for his BIG return in pinstripes. All of his 62 pitches flew without any velocity whatsoever.

Roger Clemens threw 8 practice pitches before throwing 54 to right and left-handed batters at a Yankees spring training complex. Despite the somewhat mediocre practice session, Roger Clemens is STILL optimistic that he'll be able to get it going once he makes his return to a New York Yankees game. Of course, for the Yankees' sake, let's hope for the same.

''Everything today went well,'' Clemens said after his workout a few days ago. ''The weakness that came from the scar tissue has so far dispersed. Today's bullpen session was a little more intense than a regular side session. Normally, I would throw about 60 percent, but today I threw closer to 80 percent.''

New York Yankees general manager Joe Torre believes Roger Clemens WILL play a big part in the Yankees' campaign this 2007 MLB baseball season. A campaign that has gone from bad to worse.

''The way you can win is to be able to control the game,'' Yankees manager Joe Torre said. ''The way to control the game is through pitching. To have Roger be a part of that mix is important. If he gives us five, six innings, whatever it is, we're going to have to make due with that.''

Roger Clemens initially intended to make his return to the Yankees lineup against the Chicago White Sox. An injury the Yankees dubbed as a ''fatigued groin'' stopped the 44-year-old veteran from doing just that. (And probably the way Alex Rodriguez likes to win baseball games this year... Ugh...)

If Clemens do play for the Yankees on Saturday, he would earn $17,442,637 in the 2007 MLB baseball season and cost the Yankees $6,977,054 in luxury tax, a total of $24,419,691.

Can the New York Yankees start winning with the returning Roger Clemens? Who will win the 2007 MLB World Series Championship? Bodog has the odds.

New York Yankees 7/2

Boston Red Sox 9/1

Detroit Tigers 5/1

St. Louis Cardinals 9/1
