Can Kimi Raikkonen get it going at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix and get back on top of the F1 mountain?
Apparently, his critics don't think so.
Kimi Raikkonen, after a strong start to the 2007 Formula One season in Australia, has been shooting blanks as of late. After his dominant win at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix, the fiery Finn had nothing more to show for than close calls and pathetic finishes.
Kimi Raikkonen, aboard the red scarlet Scuderia Ferrari, has only managed to score one measly point after the last two races of the new Formula One season.
After the three-way tie that saw Raikkonen side - by - side - by - side with the two McLaren drivers, rookie Lewis Hamilton and defending two-time F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso, Raikkonen dropped to fourth-best in the drivers championship standings.
Kimi Raikkonen now finds himself BEHIND his Brazilian teammate and Ferrari's No.2 driver, Felipe Massa, who has 33 points. Ten points ahead of Kimi's 23. And yep, it's not looking good for the former McLaren ace and his critics have been dogging him since.
Former World Champion Mario Andretti said that Kimi Raikkonen is getting too ''passive.'' Whatever the hell he means by it.
''I think Massa has had a leg up on Raikkonen, being at Ferrari before him, and having twice beaten Michael, let's remember,'' Mario Andretti explains.
''He knows the car, and he knows the people, he's part of the team. And I think Kimi, coming in, probably felt that. I don't know Kimi that well, but I always think he looks somewhat, passive. I don't know if it's that way inside or not. Maybe he doesn't have the team rallying around him as much as you might expect.''
Former McLaren-Mercedes driver and World Champion Mika Hakkinen on the other hand, didn't like Raikkonen's move from McLaren to Ferrari right from the get-go.
''Winning the world championship is like a spider-web, which needs many threads, and time,'' the two-time F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen explained.
''Of course it is true that McLaren's recent past had some problems, but it is a team that has always had the capacity to recover. It is possible that Kimi has not measured the risks (of joining Ferrari) too well because it looks like being a difficult year for him.''
''Also the McLaren car has evolved a lot in the past races, and winning titles can depend a lot on minor factors. In this game there are many excellent drivers, so Kimi cannot rely exclusively on his talent.''
