The Duke Blue Devils gaining on the North Carolina Tar Heels coming to the March Madness wars

Yep, and all this at the expense of the Boston College Eagles.

Apparently, the then struggling Duke Blue Devils all of a sudden has caught fire after their 78-70 win over the Boston College Eagles a few days ago. And to make matters more interesting, the once invincible North Carolina Tar Heels are slumping... (NOOO!)

Josh McRoberts, refusing to let his Blue Devils fade away in to the sunset with the March Madness wars just a few more weeks away, came up with a solid double-double performance of 18 points and 11 rebounds to help his team avoid its first five-game losing streak ever in the era of head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

''It's a big win for us. It's a huge win,'' said Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski, grinning. ''We're young. We're getting better. We just have to keep fighting.''

Playing their first game after dropping out of the Top 25 for the first time in nearly 11 years, Duke pressured the Boston College Eagles guards from the start and used an efficient halfcourt offense that led to a number of layups and dunks in beating the no.1 team in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

''I was confident,'' McRoberts said. ''It wasn't like 'we've lost four straight so we're going to lose this one.'''

And just when you thought the Boston College Eagles had enough, they will face the North Carolina Tar Heels, a team determined to get back on track, on Saturday.

North Carolina's shield of invincibility is slowly being stripped away as more NCAA College Basketball teams realize the Tar Heels can be attacked (before they can attack you). Big game Saturday night at BC which could help determine the ACC champ.

Isn't it weird that the fate of both the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils rely on the ACC-leading Boston College Eagles? Just one of those things that makes this year's March Madness wars even more interesting.
