J.J. Redick No.4 Jersey retired by the Duke Blue Devils
At least J.J. Redick can smile for a change.
In a year when J.J. Redick sees more of the bench than the court, the Duke Blue Devils retire his No.4 Duke jersey to pay tribute to perhaps the greatest Blue Devil to ever play for Duke University.
Well, we can't see Redick's greatness these days since the Orlando Magic just refuse to put their Blue Devil on the court but I got to tell you, J.J. Redick is one helluva' shooter.
J.J. Redick is the most prolific scorer in Duke and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) history. Watching him is just plain ridiculous. Double team him, triple team him, it won't matter. It doesn't surprise me that the guy is receiving all these accolades at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The 6-foot-4 guard was honored during a Duke Blue Devils basketball game. A banner bearing his number was unveiled in the rafters at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
''I am just extremely humbled,'' Orlando Magic rookie J.J. Redick said. ''Every time now that I walk into Cameron, it's going to mean something more. This is something that I crazily dreamed about years ago.''
He became the 13th player in school history to have his jersey retired, and second this season. Two-time national defensive player of the year Shelden Williams had his No.23 retired before Redick had his.
J.J. Redick, now playing for the Orlando Magic as a rookie, wearing No.7, averaged 19.9 points during his four seasons. Redick finished 16th in NCAA history with a school and conference record of a whopping 2,769 points.
He is also the record-holder for most three-pointers in the NCAA with ridiculous 457 long bombs.
