A Perfect Sunday Night for the New England Patriots?

Nine down, seven to go. Yep, the New England Patriots are THAT close from rewriting history.

The only undefeated team this 2007-08 NFL football season returns to the football field and this time, they will display their dominant form on Sunday Night Football.

Yep, the 9-0 New England Patriots, coming off their bye-week, are back in action this Sunday night as they visit the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium. It wasn't pretty the last time these two teams met as the Patriots simply pounded the Bills 38-7 and put then starting Bills quarterback, J.P. Losman out of commission.

In their rematch this Sunday night, you can very well expect more of the same because these Patriots will not be simply going for a win over Buffalo, they're going for that ''untouchable'' record set by the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

Hell, after all, it does get easier for the New England Patriots as they go down the remaining games on their schedule. They are 9-0 right now and would need seven more wins to catch the '72 Dolphins. And just because we love them Patriots, here are the remaining teams the Patriots would have to win against for perfection.

After the Patriots probably whoop the Buffalo Bills again this Sunday, they will host the Philadelphia Eagles for New England's second straight Sunday Night Football game before traveling to Baltimore for the Ravens. The Pats are 2-0 since 2000 against both teams and I expect these Pats to continue pounding these birds.

Then, the Pats host a Pittsburgh Steelers team they were able to beat four times in their last five meetings. There sure are a lot of people out there picking this game against the Steelers that the Patriots just might lose their pursuit of perfection to. Of course, that means the Pats will just pound the Steelers and win by five touchdowns.

New England's favorite whipping boys visit the Pats in Foxboro as the New York Jets face the Pats for the first time since that spying scandal that hit the league at the start of the season. The Pats have been dominant against the Jets since 2000 with an incredible 11-5 mark against this New York team. Expect the Pats to win this one too.

The Patriots face the winless Miami Dolphins. He he... You have to be crazy to think that the Dolphins just might find what will it take to beat the Pats and preserve the record of their 1972 brothers. Sure, it'll sure be a nice Hollywood ending of what has been their dismal run this season. But this ain't Hollywood and in the ''real world,'' Tom Brady can kick Dolphin ass any given week.

Last but not the least, the Pats visit the New York Giants to conclude the regular season and if the Steelers can't beat the Patriots to give them that one loss in Week 14, people see the Giants as the other team that can deny New England of perfection.

You see, the New England Patriots could be 15-0 heading for this one with home-field advantage throughout the playoffs already secured. The New York Giants, on the other hand, could still be going for the top two seeds in the NFC at either 12-3 or 11-4.

Of course, a casual fan might say a win would mean more to the Giants than it will to the Patriots. But you see, New England is going for history this season and I'm sure if Tom Brady can kick Peyton Manning's ass, he can definitely outplay little bro.
