Can Kansas Jayhawks play in the 2008 BCS Title Game?

THAT is if people start giving them the respect they probably deserve.

As of press time, the Kansas Jayhawks are still nowhere in the BCS national title picture, sitting at No.3 this 2007 NCAA college football season with still an unblemished record of 10-0.

The only teams to rank higher than the perfect Kansas Jayhawks are the 9-1 LSU Tigers and the 8-1 Oregon Ducks, two teams ranked one and two respectively despite the fact that both of these teams have a loss each.

Yep, I still can't understand why the Kansas Jayhawks are not No.1 yet. Of course, the same can be said of the 9-0 Hawaii Warriors who are ranked No.16 but we would need an entirely different story for that one. A story none of you would probably care. (It's Hawaii for crying out loud...)

The Kansas Jayhawks take care of business when other college football teams this season don't. The Ohio State Buckeyes wasn't supposed to lose at home to rival Illinois. And, like Southern California, Florida, LSU, Oregon, West Virginia, South Florida, Oklahoma, Missouri and so many others, Ohio State joined the list of beatens before their time.

It's not always pretty for Kansas, especially on the road. But the Jayhawks find another gear when they need one, as was the case when they drove 89 yards in the fourth quarter to score a much-needed touchdown after Oklahoma State had carved a 33-14 deficit to 33-28 with 13:08 to play.

And it gets easy for the Jayhawks too. They need only three more wins to finish the 2007 NCAA college football season perfect. They have Iowa State this Saturday, Missouri on November 24 and probably the Oklahoma Sooners on December for the Big 12 championship game.

If they win all that, will they get the invite to play for the biggest prize in college football? That remains to be seen, and people would first have to forget about the fact that these Jayhawks had a somewhat EASY schedule this year. They didn't play Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech. Add that with an equally soft non-conference slate and staying unbeaten is not so shocking all of a sudden.
