Seahawks Fullback Mack Strong retires this NFL Season
Yep, after all those years playing pro football, Mack Strong's back finally gave in, prompting the Seahawks fullback to retire.
After all the shit Jerome Bettis and then, Tiki Barber, gave us the last couple of seasons, announcing their retirement just before the goddamn season started, Seahawks fullback Mack Strong, in a straightforward fashion, retired this 2007-08 NFL football season, refusing to give the kind of shit Bettis and Barber pulled on football fans.
''I've played a long time, 15 years. I felt like I was pretty lucky, pretty blessed,'' the Seattle Seahawks fullback said. Isn't it ironic that Seahawks back Mack Strong doesn't have a strong back after all? Hee hee...
Sorry... Anyway...
Mack Strong learned that a herniated disk in his neck is pinching his spinal cord. His doctors say that it will heal in time without any need for surgery, provided he doesn't play even a single game in the NFL again, ever.
''I'm a fullback. That kind of goes with the territory, you are always going to have some kind of pain or injury that you have to push through,'' Mack Strong said. ''[But] at the same time, I want to be smart. I don't want to do anything that would jeopardize my long-term quality of health.''
''You know, there's a lot more to life than football. I've got my wife and two kids,'' Strong said before pausing 10 seconds with his head bowed to control his emotions, (and to think he's a STRONG... er... never mind...) ''and there's nothing more important then being able to spend time with them.''
''I just felt very fortunate to get off the field,'' Strong said. ''I'm just grateful that I got the opportunity to make that choice.''
