What this is about is the places and stadiums the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will take place. Since international sports tournaments like this one have a bunch of games one athlete can play in, they'll need more than just a little oval field.

The Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, will take place from August 8 to August 24 at the Beijing National Stadium. In this international multi-sport event of 2008, athletes from all over the world will be participating.

China, being the host country in this quadrennial event has made major preparations particularly in the venues where athletes from different parts of the globe will play.

The Chinese government has promoted the games to highlight China's emergence on the world stage. A large number of Olympic venues have been selected for the Beijing Games.

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games (BOCOG) is the organizer of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. About a total of 31 event venues in Beijing have been selected for the 2008 Beijing Games.

From a host of Olympic Stadiums in Beijing, the main stadium will be the National Stadium of Beijing or the Bird's Nest, where almost 50 percent of the events will be held. This well-known stadium is situated in the Olympic Green.

The opening as well as the closing ceremonies will take place in the National Stadium. Aside from hosting football and athletic events, this stadium will also stage many cultural and entertainment activities.

Olympic Green is a place that is situated in the northern end of the city of Beijing. Olympic Sports Center Stadium, Chaoyang District, will host Football and Modern Pentathlon (running and equestrian), while Beijing University of Technology gymnasium, Chaoyang District, will be hosting Badminton and Rhythmic Gymnastics.

The National Aquatics Center will hold the events in swimming, diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming since it IS an ''aquatics center'' right?
