Who will be the 2008 NBA Finals MVP?
Before we probably see the Celtics lift the 2008 NBA title, let's have a gander on who'll be Finals MVP first shall we?
The 2008 NBA Finals is almost over with Boston on the brink of winning their 17th world championship in franchise history. After coming back from a 24-point deficit in Game 4, the Celtics managed to win it, 97-91, and take a commanding 3-1 series lead heading for Game 5 this Sunday.
And while the Boston Celtics already have this year's title for the taking, there's no clear cut winner for Finals MVP yet. On that note, let's take a look at the candidates for Finals MVP. (At least Kobe Bryant still has a shot to win THIS one...)
Leading the candidates for the 2008 NBA Finals MVP is of course, Kobe Bryant. Kobe is playing the best basketball of his life even before the NBA playoffs started.
Add all the success and positive things that happened to Kobe in his MVP season, he should be a solid bet to win Finals MVP with or without an NBA championship ring.
Hell, Kobe could very well win Finals MVP without the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers anyway. He's THAT good.
There is of course Boston's BIG THREE of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. All three have their moments in this best-of-seven series in all three of Boston's victories.
Kevin Garnett was leading the Boston Celtics attack in Game 1 before Paul Pierce made his dramatic comeback. Pierce then followed that up with a stellar game in Game 2 that gave his team the early 2-0 series lead over the Lakers.
Ray Allen, on the other hand, was a key in Game 4, leading the Celtics to rally from the 24-point deficit. And although it was Pierce who had the most points when it was all said and done, it was Allen who made the BIG SHOTS to carry his team to the commanding 3-1 lead.
So who is your Finals MVP? Fortunately for me, it doesn't matter as long as the Boston Celtics win the title.
