Can the Ohio State Buckeyes return to BCS Title Picture?

It's possible, considering the kind of season we've had so far in college football.

Yes, the top-ranked teams in the BCS rankings just kept on going down week after week this 2007 NCAA college football season. The latest of which were the then No.1 and No.2 teams of the country, the LSU Tigers and the Kansas Jayhawks. LSU lost to the Arkansas Razorbacks, 50-48, in triple overtime before Kansas lost to the Missouri Tigers, 36-28, the following day.

The losses brought Kansas and LSU down the order to No.5 and No.7 respectively. Of course, new teams sat on top of the food chain and with their wins last weekend, the Missouri Tigers and the West Virginia Mountaineers became the new top two teams perked up for a BCS national title berth in January.

That takes us to the Ohio State Buckeyes. They didn't play last weekend but their win over the Michigan Wolverines two weeks ago was enough to land them in the No.3 spot of what has been a confusing shuffle within the BCS ranking system. Thanks of course to the losses suffered by Kansas and Louisiana State.

Sitting at No.3, the Ohio State Buckeyes could find themselves back in the BCS national championship picture if either the Missouri Tigers or the West Virginia Mountaineers lose to their opponents next weekend.

The No.1 Missouri Tigers will face the powerhouse Oklahoma Sooners team on Saturday for the Big 12 championship. The last time Missouri met Oklahoma, the Sooners were busy kicking their asses, 41-31.

And oh yes, the Buckeyes are hoping for a similar result this weekend and I reckon they'll get it.

As for the West Virginia Mountaineers, they have rivals Pittsburgh Panthers to culminate the season and we all know how unpredictable rivalry games are, especially in a season when unpredictability has become the trend.

Expect the Ohio State Buckeyes to get back to the BCS national championship picture without even playing a single college football game this weekend. Woo-hoo! Go Buckeyes!
