NFL Quarterback David Garrard signed richest NFL Football contract in Jacksonville Jaguars history

And get this, the guy could've still asked for more money. Not bad for a former backup eh?

With still more than a few months left before the brand new 2008-09 NFL football season begins, David Garrard inked a seven-year, $60 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the richest contract ever offered in the history of the franchise.

David Garrard, as stated, could've asked for more money but apparently, the guy was just too damn tired to negotiate so he just signed the last deal offered to him. Yep, the Jacksonville Jaguars just got lucky. He he...

''I pretty much had to say, 'Let's go ahead and wrap it up. I'm done,''' David Garrard said. ''It's too much stress on me and my family. My wife was done five weeks ago. She's already been on board with everything.''

''We just kept working on it and I finally just said, 'You know what, I'd rather be happy now, have the city happy now, have the team, the organization, the owner happy now than trying to string something out having everybody on edge.'''

Originally, Garrard, along with his agent Albert Irby, wanted something similar to the whopping six-year, $67.5 million contract Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo signed last season. But because the Jaguars just refused to pay him a cent more than what they were offering to the guy, Garrard just signed on the dotted line anyway.

''I've just seen it too many times,'' David Garrard said. ''I just didn't want to go through it myself. There's way too many things that can happen to you between here and now and when you're trying to get this done and that done. Is it really worth it?''

''I just said, 'It's time to make everybody happy' because I was already happy.''

Garrard was entering the final year of his four-year contract that paid him $2 million annually. He was playing as backup to Byron Leftwich then. Now that he'll be earning $60 million in seven years, of course the guy has to be happy.

Let's just hope the Jacksonville Jaguars franchise would still be happy like him today seven years from now.
