Thanks to you, Home Run King Barry Bonds will retire

seth-edward-oneal.jpgWell, that's what he's saying at this point.

Yep, with his place in history secured after passing Hank Aaron for the all-time MLB home run record in the 2007 MLB baseball season, Barry Bonds seems ready to call it quits and walk away from the game that made him the steroid-powered monstrosity that he is today.

Before reaching the home run milestone a few days ago, the San Francisco Giants superstar talked about playing in 2008 as if he'd just keep playing and playing until they yank that bat off of him.

After getting the MLB all-time home run record, Barry Bonds is already thinking about retirement. Yep, the idea of playing after 2008, all of a sudden, seems weird to him and probably near to an impossibility.

''[Playing] after next year? I don't know. I don't think so,'' Barry Bonds said. ''I don't think two years I can make.''

''It's hard for me to think about that right now, I'm a Giant. That's who I am, it would be hard for me to take that uniform off. It would be very hard. But I don't know yet, I have a lot of time to think about it in the wintertime.''

For what it's worth, Barry Bonds said he still has goals to achieve and he will be more than happy to reach them before he finally calls it quits and retires. ''Yeah, I need to win a championship and get 3,000 hits, that would be nice to [end] my career,'' Bonds said.

As far as getting 3,000 hits is concerned, Barry Bonds can probably get that before he retires but winning a championship? Now THAT is an entirely different story, considering how bad his San Francisco Giants suck these days.

Who will win the 2007 MLB World Series Championship? Bodog has the odds.

New York Yankees 7/2

Boston Red Sox 9/1

Detroit Tigers 5/1

St. Louis Cardinals 9/1
