More Problems for Manchester United on Sunday as they play the Spurs without Edwin van der Sar

Ya' think the defending English Premiership champions have enough problems already? Get this...

After Manchester United lost Wayne Rooney indefinitely, and after starting the 2007 English Premiere League season in such pathetic fashion for defending Premiership champs, Man-U lost key goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, leaving the Man-U goal virtually unguarded on Sunday when they take on the Tottenham Spurs.

Edwin van der Sar injured his left foot in a training ground collision with Dirk Kuyt, failing to take part in a friendly fixture with Switzerland last Wednesday. Yeah, sure, the damage on his foot is really not that serious but he is STILL a major doubt for Sunday's fixture against the Spurs.

Hell, Manchester United desperately need him too. (Especially with Wayne Rooney out...) After only scoring two measly points in the opening three games of the 2007 English Premiere League season, Man-U better get their act together quick or we could very well see the most pathetic title defense since the Miami Heat in the last NBA basketball season.

Tomasz Kuszczak is the man Man-U boss Sir Alex Ferguson is pinpointing to man the Red Devils goal. It will be his seventh league start since arriving from West Brom at the start of the last term.

One thing going for Kuszczak heading to his big 2007 English Premiership debut this Sunday is the fact that he got some recent match practice after completing the second half of a friendly draw for his home country Poland against England's Euro 2008 qualifying rivals, Russia.

Can Manchester United STILL get over this hump that started the 2007 season for them?

Paul Scholes believes they still can. He believes that their new players will gel together with the rest of the team in time to make another serious bid for the Premiership this season.

''We have signed four new players in the summer and it is just going to take a little bit of time for them to settle,'' Paul Scholes said.

''I know supporters expect everyone to gel straightaway but it is not that simple. They are coming to a new club, finding new houses and meeting new people, which cannot be the easiest thing in the world.''

Here are the odds from Bodog on who will win the 2007-08 English Premiere League title.

Manchester United +150

Chelsea FC +150

Liverpool FC +550

Arsenal FC +650
