Aston Martin joining the madness in F1 Racing?
Yeah yeah, after we heard the rumors about Porsche joining F1, we have Aston Martin buzzing about a Formula One stint.
Apparently, the former head honcho of Benetton and BAR, David Richards, believe that Aston Martin cold enter the F1 arena in the next five years. Of course, that's STILL a looong time from now but hey, it seems everybody's excited.
Of course, if you're already tired of the whole Ferrari – McLaren – Renault story during the past couple of years in F1 racing, having new players definitely is something to look forward to.
Until they suck just as bad as Red Bull racing anyway... For what it's worth, David Richards is due to return to Formula One with his own Prodrive organization. And yeah, he sure knows how to create some buzz already eh?
Richards, along with probably some other rich kids, recently acquired a controlling stake in Aston Martin. Yep, they took it away from Ford who had no choice but to sell in order for them to deal with their own financial troubles. Egad...
With Richards' links to F1 racing, Aston Martin joining Formula One could very well be inevitable. Besides, he already told the F1 world that Aston Martin might join F1 in the next five years anyway.
''In five years Formula One could be realistic for Aston,'' confirmed David Richards.
So what will happen to the man's Prodrive? For now, Richards is committed to ensuring Prodrive make their own successful entry as a 'customer' team, where they will be supplied with a chassis by a current manufacturer.
''One thing is clear, Prodrive will not build its own car. We never intended that,'' insisted Richards.
''If you look at the examples of Honda and Toyota, they have shown just how expensive it is to be successful with their own car. So we will work with an existing team.''
Who will win the F1 drivers championship? Bodog has the odds.
Kimi Raikkonen 7/4
Fernando Alonso 7/4
Lewis Hamilton 9/2
Felipe Massa 5/2
