North Carolina to repeat 2005 run in March Madness Bracket?

The North Carolina Tar Heels, 2007 NCAA College Basketball champions. It has a nice ring to it huh?

The North Carolina Tar Heels remember so well the images that saw them win the NCAA College Basketball national championship back in 2005. They were good enough to earn the No.1 seed of that fateful tournament then.

Now, after a couple of seasons, they're back with one of the four 2007 March Madness bracket top spots. However, UNC head coach Roy Williams believes that the No.1 seed is the ONLY thing similar about that championship team and his young crop of Tar Heels this season.

''That was a very experienced team, a team that had been through a lot of turmoil, a lot of adversity,'' UNC head coach Roy Williams said. ''You can use all the descriptive phrases that you want. They had been through a lot.''

Comparisons to 2005 are becoming more frequent because the current team's seed at the 2007 March Madness bracket makes it a favorite to reach the NCAA Final Four and contend for the biggest prize in all of college hoops, the NCAA College Basketball national championship.

The most obvious difference between the 2005 team and Tyler Hansbrough's boys is experience. (Oh yeah, that and one bloodied nose too...)

The North Carolina Tar Heels have a young team in the tournament. Sophomore leader Tyler Hansbrough will lead a team of three starting freshmen; Brandan Wright, Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington. Senior leader Reyshawn Terry is the only guy they have in the starting lineup who brings experience.

But then again, don't mistake their lack of mileage for lack of talent. These young Tar Heels are talented enough to win it all this season. Hell, they came THIS far right?

Can the North Carolina Tar Heels win the 2007 NCAA College Basketball championship? Here are some odds from Bodog sportsbook.

Florida Gators 9/2

Ohio State Buckeyes 8/1

North Carolina Tar Heels 5/1

Kansas Jayhawks 4/1
