Felipe Massa, not Raikkonen, is THE MAN in Ferrari

FOR NOW.

With the 2007 Formula One season merely a few days away, it seems Ferrari has more than what they bargained for. Yep, as good as newly acquired driver from McLaren Mercedes Kimi Raikkonen is, Felipe Massa is becoming quite a competitor lately. If Massa keeps this up, hell, Kimi could go from ace to mere sidekick.

Ferrari finished the final day of testing in Bahrain as the early favorites to win the 2007 F1 Drivers Championship. And it's all thanks to their amazing Brazilian sensation, Felipe Massa.

How come Ferrari always have these nosy Brazilian drivers trying to be as good as the team's ''suppose to be'' ace drivers? Rubens Barrichello did it to Michael Schumacher and now, it seems Felipe Massa is doing it to Kimi.

For what it's worth, that can only mean one thing, Ferrari's drivers are ready to compete. Hell, they're already competing against each other for crying out loud. And if both drivers continue their solid performances, we could be hearing ''Ferrari one-two'' for the rest of the goddamn season. Scary huh?

Felipe Massa and Ferrari have dominated the week's test in Bahrain, setting the fastest lap times of the two days of testing. The Brazilian further boosted Ferrari's confidence when he broke the track's lap record with a 1:29.979 at the start of the final day of testing in Bahrain.

Meanwhile, McLaren Mercedes ace driver and double F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso was third quickest in Thursday's morning session, some sixth tenths of a second off the pace.

Felipe Massa was asked if he felt Ferrari is ahead of rivals McLaren heading to brand new season and his reply was, ''For sure.'' (A rather short answer to a rather dumb question ain't it?)

''It's difficult to speak for them but at the moment it looks like we are quite strong with a good package. Hopefully it will stay like this.''

''We've made a big step forward in terms of set up work and aerodynamics. I think if you compare the first day in Bahrain and the end of the second week we've done a very good job and improved the car a lot, especially with the new aerodynamic package, which we understand how to work better on the tires.''

''I have to say I'm really happy and optimistic. I'm ready for the first race.''

Can Felipe Massa lead Ferrari towards the F1 title? Who will win the F1 drivers championship? Bodog has the odds.

Kimi Raikkonen 5/4

Fernando Alonso 9/5

Giancarlo Fisichella 18/1

Jenson Button 11/1
