Kimi Raikkonen must win F1 Title for Ferrari

Yep, such was the ultimatum given to the fiery Finn coming to his first F1 season with the red scarlet Scuderia Ferrari.

Ferrari team president Luca di Montezemolo believes that the former McLaren-Mercedes pilot has a ''superb opportunity'' to snatch the F1 championship away from the defending champion, Fernando Alonso. Alonso is the same man who took Kimi's seat with the Silver and Black McLaren-Mercedes machines.

According to Montezemolo, if Kimi Raikkonen had been driving their Ferraris, and not some piece of shit like a McLaren, he would already be a world champion. Ferrari has dominated the sport but during the past two years, the red scarlet has played second fiddle to Renault and he's getting quite irritated by it.

''It must be said that in 2005 Raikkonen would have won the championship with a more reliable car,'' Montezemolo said.

''He broke down five times, and he was always in the lead. So now he must understand this is the time to win the title. Felipe Massa goes extremely quickly and maybe he will be faster systematically. I hope they will both go quickly.''

''We are ready to get back to winning ways. This way Jean Todt would be able to retire serenely and so would I. Michael Schumacher arrived at the right time and now arrives Raikkonen, also at the right time,'' he added.

While some Ferrari fans feel that the Finnish driver's much publicized playboy lifestyle will be a massive hindrance in Ferrari's quest for the title, Montezemolo feels happy with his approach to the job.

''It happens to everyone to get drunk at times,'' he said. ''(Eddie) Irvine was a bit like that too. It also happened to a guy from Kerpen, no matter how difficult it is to believe it.''
