“Just Quinn, Baby.” - Oakland Raiders
Al Davis always said, ''Just Win, Baby,'' in reference to his Oakland Raiders.
Well, after posting the team's worst mark, at 2-14, in more than FOUR goddamn decades, ''Just Win, Baby,'' is no more the motto team owner Al Davis can use in reference to his somewhat disgruntled NFL Football franchise.
With the league's worst NFL Football record of the season, it could very well be ''Just Quinn, Baby,'' as they are in prime position to sign probably the top talent in this year's NFL Draft, Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Brady Quinn.
Ohmigod... I can only hope and pray that they do get to sign this guy, especially after watching Raiders quarterbacks Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter hit the ground over and over and over and over again.
Oakland's season-ending 23-3 loss to the New York Jets, coupled with Detroit's upset win at Dallas, left the Raiders in sole possession of the worst record in the NFL. That negative comes with a reward, the No.1 pick in April's draft, when Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn could be the top player available.
Oakland Raiders head coach Art Shell said Monday he was not ready to discuss the team's priorities in the draft, saying he first needed to evaluate the players already on the team and the coaching staff.
Shell expects to be the man making those decisions, even though Davis did not give his coach a public vote of confidence when he had the chance late in the season. Shell will meet with Davis this week.
''I expect to be here and I want to do this,'' Shell said. ''I want to try to see this thing to fruition.''
Well, after watching the Oakland Raiders stink on the NFL Football field since Rich Gannon called it quits, I guess it doesn't matter who coaches this team. What this team needs is a mobile quarterback and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Silver and Black draft Brady Quinn.
Whatever they do, I pray to God that they don't start Aaron Brooks or Andrew Walter again next season.
